Lately, or this year really, I've been buying display cases for my built models. The best deal I've found is at Hobby Lobby. Way at the back of the store on an end-cap they are usually stuffed onto the lower shelf along with some non-related boxed "stuff". They are just a bit smaller than the AMT & Johan 1/25th cases but for showrod stuff, they are just perfect. One online eBay seller even calls the smaller of the 2 sizes available "for 1/32nd". But, for a T-Bucket or say early Revell gassers (IE: Simple Simon) the 1/32nd version is perfect.
Speaking of eBay, I really like the AMT "600 Clear Display Cases". Aside from Dragsters, which almost, but not quite fit, all my other genres (drag, Nascar, custom, & stocks fit perfectly. I see them occasionally on eBay, one at a time for around a sawbuck which is a great price but when the seller only has the "one" being advertised, with another 10-spot for shipping and taxes, that makes it a $20 display case. I even ask the sellers how many they have and the response is typically, just the 1 for this price.
BUT, (there's always a but) every couple of months, seller BALLZANO (and now going by ballzanos_hobby_warehouse) offers up the AMT 600 for $10 with <$8 shipping to me in Ohio. He typically lists at least 12 but this year has 24 (well now 20). Every time this seller offers them up, I usually buy 4 at a time because even with <$10 combined shipping for the 4 I've been able to almost get all of my little gems covered and displayed in my hobby room on a shelf(s).
So, what's the point of this post? Just to let people know that instead of storing their built masterpieces under their bed or in the garage inside an empty model box, there's a better place. If you almost live in the country like me, you have to contend with dust. Lots of dust. Handling my builts, running them under the sink faucet to wash them, is usually where damage is most likely to occur. Then to put them back on the shelf, only to have to go through the whole washing thing again next year just increases the chance to lose a side mirror, break a door off, or worse. The coupe interiors never get clean, nor the inside of windows.
So, because he's been a great seller to me, I'm putting the word out on Mr.Ballzano. His shipping is super fair and these cases are the preferred item in my hobby household. Like I said, I always buy 4 at a time because I've been building since 1960. (But the oldest survivor I have is from 1995). So there's lots of built-ups here. I used to sell my builds on eBay. But I find myself now re-purchasing the kits and building the sold ones again. (Almost exactly like the one I sold.
Here's a link to his eBay item page. I just bought 4 myself as an early Christmas present for me. ballzanos_hobby_warehouse 4 for $50 SHIPPED is a deal and a 1/2 to me. I recommend his wares to all.
