Fresh off the table (my bench is too cluttered at the moment). The Mercedes Stage Rod!
As a young'n, I was a fan of "Where the Action Is" with Paul Revere and the Raiders. However, I was not a fan of the Barris "Lawnmower" design coach. So, rather than create another "Stage Fright", I went with a more upscale ride.
I paired up the rear of the Coach kit with a Mercedes SSK front end and a motor from who knows where. The mower tranny was moved to the back to power the rear wheels. Created a full roof from sheet PVC (doubled up, with a trimmed-out kit roof seat for a coachman) and closed up the boot.
Cabin and fenders are painted up as mahogany wood, with all of the leather dressed in metallic black/bronze.
Oh, and a nice little rail to keep the passengers from falling out.
Thanks for lookin' in, ya'll!

I love it and thanks for putting a bar on the door for safety! Tell us more about how you got the plastic to look like real wood (looks fantastic).

The base paint is actually red primer (Krylon), followed by an acrylic antiquing medium from Folk Art/Plaid (something from Michaels that's been in my paint bin a while). I used it on the roof, fenders and side panels, as if I were dry brushing, but still making sure it built up in the crevasses on the panels. As with most weathering stuff, I wiped away the high areas with a damp cloth, and then finessed the dark streaks.
There were probably some subsequent deep reds mixed with it along the way before satin clear coats.

Thanks, Fellas! It's one I'd been mentally noodling with for a while.
Had a senior moment while working on it tho. I lost one of the interior benches. Looked in every probable place with no luck. So I bought another Raiders Coach just for that part. Figured I could use the second kit for a Halloween build down the road.
Of course, the day after I finished the build, I put on a dress shirt for work, and found the original bench in the breast pocket! Such a goofball.
