Because the moon needs more cement! I now have a Moon Mixer on the shelf
I picked this up as a started kit off of the Bay. Luckily, most of the construction was done with non-solvent glue and fell apart readily. However, as we know, these older kits are brittle, especially those Revell metallic plastic blends.
So, the right fender was snapped in two, and the window frame was a puzzle of five pieces, which was rebuilt about 6 times during this project.
Mostly, because, you know... thumbs.
And, yes, that's all there was left of the roof antennae.
Anyway, I wanted to go bit off standard. Painted up in a pearl fire red (the pics don't do it justice), with pearl blue seats, running board steps and accents.
Rather than white, the drum was painted in something less contrasting. I'll say "Enterprise Off White" and let the Trekkies argue it out.
Some Bare Metal foil for the bands, and a pen part sealed off the spout. Lots of chrome pen touch-up on the rest of the shiny silver parts.
Some of the kit parts had to be replaced with donor pieces from less complete eBay parts lot buys (I tried to keep as many originals as usable). One part set that was left out was the drum/capsule jets. There was only one unit in the kit box, and creating a set of four was not deemed necessary.
And a redone set of decals.
After the photo shoot, this delicate baby went right into an acrylic display box. My thumbs can not be trusted.
Thanks for checkin' in, Houston!

Cool paint choices--love the blue offset of the orange. Your build made me go back and look at the original kit in the Show Room and read this pun-laden description:
With all this travel to the moon these days, transportation, when you get there, is a problem. That is, before Revell's Moon Mixer came on the scene. This freaky, four-way moon beam catcher is strictly from the dark side of the moon. From its solar beam headlites, past its lunabulb ooogahorn and the lunavision aerial to its astronomical compounding chamber (for cementing good relationships), this far-out fussin' bit of fusion will turn you into a Revellunatic. This amusing, amazing Amoonzon has all the necessary equipment such as all chrome Corvair engine, space headrest type sitting devices, and super secret spacecraft super-thruster space cones. The one main point of contention is whether this is the moon's truck or is it the moon stuck? Only captain Mix Ture knows for sure and he won't tell.

Looks great ! I also restored one of these a few years back, and that Revell plastic was like working with egg shells so I feel your pain , lol If you ever want to put the small thrusters on the capsule , the old Revell Apollo moon landing kit has the exact same pieces. The capsule is pretty close to the Mixers as well ; I guess it was reworked so it could be used on the Mixer kit.

What a beautiful restoration. The Moon Mixer was one of the oddest examples of the theme car fad. Nice to see it built up. Great job.

Wow. Excellent work, Dennis. Great looking. Box stock build. I might have a left over antenna. Should I look for to send to you? Scott

I don't think the original would have survived the preservation process. I have some slightly larger boxes, but I wanted to keep the series in the same size I've been using for the others. That all may change when I do up the Meter Cheater I have in the stash.
