Can you give us some insight on this build, why you chose it, and what this race is about?

These cars are from the World Rally Championships, held every year bar the Covid times across 10 or so countries across the world. They are built by major manufacturers in each country and are reasonably lightweight but with four cylinder Turbo or Supercharged engines that now have hybrid systems, that re-charge the battery packs when braking. This helps the engines at low speed to cut carbon emissions, and use battery power through let's say towns and villages. I chose it as I got involved with both track and rally racing some 45 years ago. I was a volunteer marshal in both over a great number of years. Rallying is held over a number of days normally a Wednesday or Thursday up to Sunday on closed roads/tracks, the fastest cars/ drivers and navigators on each 'Stage' being the timed winners. Having an Audi Press Officer as a neighbour some years ago I drove the first of the saloon style Audi Quattro's in the UK. The build was simple but some of the decals on the instructions were mis-numbered, so care was needed to get them in the right places. Interesting that ask these questions when you tag is 'Rallymaster'.

Interesting that ask these questions when you tag is 'Rallymaster'.HA--yes, my "handle" is is a combination of "Dave's Show Rod Rally" and "Webmaster"--nothing to do with Rally Racing. I like to prompt members sometimes to share their knowledge for those of us who like to expand our horizons of knowledge. Thanks a bunch for the effort!--DR

It is unfortunate that American car models are so expensive here. I looked on ebay UK and a 1930's Orange Ford was advertised for £33 and the shipping was £27 so £60 in total for a plastic model kit. No good for a pensioner to buy! UPDATE: 15.08.24 Even worse I saw one advertised on ebay USA that wanted $90 on top of the model price to ship to the UK!
