I've shot HOK RAINBOW ULTRA MINI-FLAKE thru my Iwata with great success . NOW with that being said, I realize that FLAKE comes in many sizes but what is the largest size that can be shot thru a standard airbrush and still give acceptable results without going to the expense of buying a high dollar flake gun ? Is it possible or is the orifice too small in the very end of a conventional gun ? Here's the link to Canney's Guest Gallery showing the Rainbow Ultra Mini Flake on a finished project .. canneysgarage.canney.net/GuestGallery/ChuckDarnell/bonneville/index.html

Hi Chuck, It's Pretty Straight forward, The HOK Flake is graded in three sizes, Flake ( Largest) 1/64" , Mini Flake ( Medium) 1/250" , And The Smallest is the Ultra Mini 1/500" .....So, the Ultra Mini, Will Go Through the Iwata Eclipse, as you know; personally, I prefer to use A touch up gun for the Mini Flake because the spray comes out nicer than using the Airbrush ...And The Big Flake Won't, But It Will go through some larger Spray Guns ( with an adequate nozzle ) , I prefer to stick to only the Ultra Mini, Just Because of the Size Relation to Models, In my opinion; anything larger on them, Starts Looking too wacky & takes Way too much Clear to bury !!!!

I have to agree with Rick. I have the same rainbow flake that Boom gave me, and it is perfect for scale and shoots easily. I think anything larger would be a problem.

Also Chuck, One other thing, I forgot to mention, in case You, or others aren't Aware... Make Sure you have A "Special/Separate Area" to shoot the Flake...you'll be real sorry if you shoot it , " just Anywhere" .....Cause it Goes All over the Place !!!...You'll have it on you & everything !!! ...It's a bit messy !!!..be prepared !!!
