... the Hard-Hat Hauler that I started a while back then put away for a while after some painting disasters. Going for the original look to this, not the yellow construction worker look the reissue kit used for its art. I picked up the repro decals from Dkal Dan and was all set. Lots of sinkholes in this one, especially in the frame. I'm using photos of the real car for some painting inspiration as well, along with replacing the blower scoop of the kit with one I got from an eBay find of a bunch of MPC 1/20th parts. Stripped off the old paint, some chrome for my own repainting, and ready to start over. I was looking over everything and thinking "jeez, this is bad!" Now I'll just take my time on it and do it right ... plus this'll be the first show rod I've worked on for a while now, so this should be fun!

I love building 1/20th kits. I think a 1/20th scale only Contest would be Kool.. Have fun and post pictures.. BiLL.

I love the old MPC 1/20 kits ... my biggest wish is that the Yankee Clipper funny car gets reissued. Also had the McLaren MK8D kit, which is still pretty easy to get. One of these days I'll get my hands on the Shalako, but I've managed to get outbid on it a few times on eBay.
Today did lots of putty work to fill in the sink holes, smoothed down some seam lines (lots of seams with this) ... there's going to be a lot of prep work on this one!

I love that Mcclaren kit too! I bought the reissue, but have yet to build it!! It was one I always wanted as a kid but never managed to get! Nice work on your Hardhat. Dan's decals are tops, I've got a set for mine too! finish it!
