Here's a mock up pic of my '72 Nova Pro Street build I've been working on, along with my other projects. I'm using the 454 engine from the AMT 'Old Pro' kit, using the blower setup from the AMT 'Winged Express', the rear tubbed chassis from the AMT '70 Coronet Super Bee, the rear tires and wheels, rear axle and suspension from the same kit, parts of the interior from the Revell 'Malibu SS Pro Street (Max Rat) kit, a medium 3 port intake hat on top of two 4 barrel carbs. The front wheels are the Crager SS's from the Nova kit and the tires are from the Winged Express kit. A real kitbash and hacking build to make something different.

Steve where did you get the blower hat?? i have the longer versions, but have been looking for the short one like that one you are useing. By the way , the project is looking great, i myself used to own a 70 Nova, keep me posted on this puppy,please!!!

I remember when these things were running the streets when I was in high school. They were lightweight, easy to soup up and go real fast. I ran many a Nova in my 72' Mustang back in the day. LOL. Your project looks kick-ass John. Keep us posted on this one!

that's looking good so far steve. i used to own a 70 nova and a 68 nova. both were big blocks (the 70 had a 468, and the 68 had a 402). both had nitrous, and were street / strip cars. the 68 ran low 12's, and the 70 ran mid- high 11's in the 1/4. i owned them at different times, but they were my every day drivers. i used to drive them to work every day, drive them to the track, race them, and drive them home. i ran cheater slicks on both cars all the time, and they both got about 8 mpg on a good day. i love novas.

Received the pro street/pro stock items I won on eBay. It'll take me some time to figure out which parts to use. It's going to be nearly a whole re-build on the chassis and interior as some of the items I got don't quite fit the Nova body. Will post some pics once I get things looking right.

Looks cool, has a great stance. If it was mine, I'd choose between the carbs of the injector hat.... It would look modern with the scoop right on the blower... HTH.

Thanks for the suggestion Brandon. I was toying between the injector hat right on the blower, or having the twin carbs. How about a "Shotgun" injector on top of the carbs on top of the blower? I have a picture of a real 1:1 El Camino with this kind of engine setup that I was using for inspiration. I'll see if I can find it and add it to this message so you all can see what I'm going for. Okay, here's the pic I was referring to:

The shotgun scoop would work on a dual four setup. I think there was a small injection one in the Yankee Challeger '70 Challenger kit....and I seem to recall seeing another one somewhere else, one for the two carbs, but can't remember exactly where. For a street driven "Pro Street" car, carbs on a blower is the usual choice. The flat-out fuel injection is usually set up for serious competition cars, or show ponies, because they generally are set up to go all out or nothing. The carbs are a little more streetable. Looks good though, I would love to have one of those Novas in 1:1...

Thanks guys! I'm making my Nova street driven so I'll stay with the dual carb setup. I was lookin' at the Yankee Challenger engine setup and that's kinda the way I was seeing the one on my Nova. I'll have to take a look at the Testors Coupster kit to see if that engine setup is more like the one in the above pic. Thanks again for the suggestions! ;D

Here's three update mockup pics of my '72 Nova Pro Street build: I changed the blower hat to the shotgun hat from the AMT "Yankee Challenge" Challenger, it looks better than the 3 port hat. I also have added on to the firewall and totally removed the engine compartment side walls/wheel wells. I'll be scratch building a tube frame for the engine compartment. I'm using an aluminum tube for the front axle and the front wheels slip on it perfectly! The rear axle with the four-link suspension and coil over shocks have been installed as well, thus the stance of the car now from the earlier pics. It's coming along slowly as I'm learning to do this as I go. I still don't know what color I'll paint this beast. The only painting so far has been the engine.
