... but at least the manifold lines are now in!
Engine completed and now waiting for other stuff to be done before it gets to the frame. Even tho this kit was bought "new", its from a LHS that has stock lying around for years. This one, the Mickey Thompson red Grand Am, was missing the yellow spark plug wires and the gray tubing. I contacted Revell about it, explaining it was bought from a store, missing the gray tubing, and that its the same tubing found in the current California Charger ... and would I be able to get some?
No dice ... Revell told me the kit went OOP in 2004, so too bad. But instead of paying $7 or 8 on gray tubing (with postage, I think) IF they said "sure, OK" I found some hollow tubing at Hobby Lobby that for under $2 you get 60 FEET.
I think the stuff I used also glows in the dark. Whee!! At least I'll know where the car is when the lights go off.
This is also the first time I attempted using the airbrush to paint an entire body, as I was getting tired of fixing orange peel. Pretty neat! Well, not neat getting Tamiya Bright Red out of the can and into a paper cup and then pouring it into a bottle. I'll wear a glove next time.
Also used the Alclad Gloss Black base on the gas tank. Alclad says at couple coats are needed for gloss ... the first coat gives a really nice satin black look to the part, which may not be right for the gas tank, but would look really good on other parts.
These parts are just waiting their turn to get more work done on them. Doing some chrome stripping on the rear axle and other painting needs to be done.
If only I had one whole day to work on this! But this time of year, with friends and family and other stuff, I'm lucky to get any time to myself and work on this!
