I recently picked up a Pixar Cars diecast 1/64th or whatever scale they are of Tow-Maters's new tow truck in light blue. When I saw this new version of his truck it kinda kicked me in the butt to build a model of this version instead of the rusty one. I had a 1/24th scale diecast tow truck laying around and after studying the little diecast mater truck I realized I could use the 55 cameo pickup truck for the cab and mount it to the diecast chassis with out much modification. This will be built slammer style, so other than a repaint of light blue most of the work will be in using magic sculpt to fashion the facial features of the front end. I will post pics as a progress on this....................Fred
I First formed the basic shape with cardstock cut to shape and taped and epoxied to the lower front of truck. I then used masic sculp 2 part epoxy putty and made the front end flush. I then formed the mouth/lips area, followed by individually forming the three teeth and setting them inside the mouth. I then worked the mouth line/lips with modeling clay tools and smoothed the putty as best I could. I will let this harden overnight and then sand the putty and use filler to fix any imperfections. This truck won't be an exact replica, but for a quick curbside builder it will be close enough........Fred
