VETTE-VAN GASSER PROJECT -NEW PICS ADDED 2-8-07

OK, Winter has finally hit and hit hard in upstate New York!! Temperatures are hanging in the 3 to 12 degree range and add in the windchill and you are talking -22 below (I know this is nothing for you Minn, Wisc,Ill, etc. folks) but when just two weeks ago the temps were in the 40's it kinda look like we weren't gonna get much of a winter. Anyway because of the Temps/weather there is really nothing to do so now I get alot of bench time in!! ;D ;D ;D

I picked up this beat vette-van builder and decided to make a vette-van gasser out of it using the amt Georgia shaker kit for the chassis. I had to modify the chassis by cutting panels out over the rear axle area in order to use the vette van interior tub.

hhhmmmmmmm.. Speaking of 'vette's .. I've got a sealed MPC '75 v'ette with the little metal coil springs in the suspension .. I might even have an old '63 split window in my stash .. I love the vette Gasser look ...

OK, I have the chassis painted metallic pearl lime, tires are painted and lettered, dash is painted along with motor/tranny. I went and attempted to remove the old red paint from the body using Polly S easy-lift-off which I have used exclusively with no issues but sometimes the plastic underneath become brittle and will begin to haze with surface etch marks. I have had this problem with old johan hearse/ambulance kits when paint needed to be removed. The paint wasn't too bad and I almost left it alone and was just going to primer over the old paint and reshoot it with new colors....kinda wished now that I did ...Looks like I got some sanding/filling ahead of me..................Fred
