Huh ... that subject line doesn't have the right ring to it!
Some more progress on the Jolly Rodger. It was the crazy firewall that was preventing the body from fitting right on the chassis. The body isn't glued on yet ... I still may have some touchups to do on it, plus I want to spray a coat of Gloss Clear over the whole thing. I painted the bottom Tamiya Flat Red, the middle a mix of the Tamiya Flat Red and Tamiya Metallic Blue, and the top is just Tamiya Flat Black. Tamiya Flat White for the railings. Testors Gold for the King Tut's Tomb detailing.
But here's the body parts in place just so I can see how its all fitting.
The seats are going to be a very tight fit, I think (they aren't glued in yet -- I just put them in to see how they fit). More fun! Once the ship body is done with and glued on (that Dremel case is actually holding the body up -- otherwise, it'd tip over on the chassis!), then most of the work left to be done is gluing on small parts here and there, along with painting the parts to go on top of the ship (masts, cannons, sails, etc.)
I remember thinking when I first saw this "what a goofy looking kit" ... but for the most part its turned out to be a lot of fun. I'm still doing this just for fun, but as usual, it seems I'm putting more work into it than originally planned (not all the 'bad' type either). After having to deal with some personal issues with family & a friend lately, its super-therapy to work on something that I'm not trying to match up details to on photos -- and when I look at it now, I'm thinking "hey, that's looking kinda cool!" Gotta be that Honduras Maroon ... I gotta pick up some more of that color!!!
