I hate not being able to post in-progress on the contest builds, so thought I'd do a bike in between the paint dryin' so I could post something! LOL. I've got about a half dozen bike ideas rollin' around in my head, lookin' for parts to make them later. This one is going to be a big experiment, and I'll post some pictures this weekend.
This will be a full-blown custom. I've started with a "Torch" kit with the short frame. First thing I did was to lopp off the head assembly on the frame, and reshape the tubes to throw as much of a rake as I can in it, dropping the bike severely. I then removed the entire rear frame assemblys in the area that supports the rear tire.
Using brass rod, I am lengthening the wheelbase, as well as dropping the rear end in the process. This morning, I had it sitting on a dime (literally) to hold it up.
I'm experimenting with grafting (2) long tanks bottom to bottom to form one large wide tank, . I may section it down the middle to flatten it and form a custom tank. Not sure yet on that.
The paint will be something I haven't done yet either. I am going to do a mix of opaque flourescents intertwined with kandies. I'm thinking a Kandy Tangerine and Persimmon, twisted in with flourescent green and maybe some yellow. I may add some brushed in pinlines, and then bury it all in a deep klearcoat. This probably sounds horrible, but I have this picture in my mind of how it will look, so I am going for it.
Alot of these bikes are taking on the same look, so I'm really making an effort to give this one the "gotcha" factor and make it different. It doesn't hurt either having a zillion Harleys buzzing thru town right now. We are smack in the middle of Bike Week 07', and there are some killer bikes in town!
