Managed to get a lot of work done on this over the weekend (but now, time to go to mother-in-law's house to do some handyman work) ... really liking how this one is shaping up.
Body was painted Testors Metallic Lime Gold for the roof, and a Testors Metalflake Green Gold for the body (or something like that ... its one of their airbrush colors and I can't remember the exact name). Testors airbrush Metalflake Teal was used for the bottom half -- and unfortunately, in the second photo, you can see a spot where I thought I had masked off, but something happen -- should polish out tho, I hope.
I just put the main parts together to get a rough idea on how it'll look. The surfboards have started with the paint jobs, the rack was Alclad Chromed, and other parts are just waiting to be glued on when the body is finished. I need to work on some of the body painting a little, fix up what didn't work out with masking.
This photo you can see (maybe!) where, on the left rear tire, where one of the tire halves has a portion that was actually melted!! Melted direct from the factory. I'll fix it somehow, but for now the melted spot is hidden by the body. The driver turned out nice ... used BMF for the gauges and then thinned Semi Gloss Black for the inside gauge.
This is the mid-90s reissue of the kit. That brown plastic is -- well, yuck. The Good Boot logo is missing from the tires, so I painted one on. Also need to work more on the interior -- have some nice plans for that!
This week I go on vacation to stay with my brother in South Dakota -- he told me he recently found, while unpacking some old boxes, one of his Haunted Mansion models -- so I'm taking my stuff out there to restore that one to good shape, and help him finish the Polar Lights PSYCHO house he started but never finished. Sounds like fun!
