Still have steering linkage, fuel system and seat/belts to finish up. I tried to replicate the scratched, cracked appearance of old acrylic or polycarbonate on the canopy top... I think it needs a little yellowing to be "right". Thinking about leaving a couple of stray wires hanging out of the abandoned clock-hole. I still need to add the canopy seals and frames as well.

Everytime I see this i think of WWII fighters, with a huge engine infront of the bubbly canopy! It looks awesome Dave! ;D

Tim,
The V-12 is made up of two of the underscale Damiler Benz sixes from the Red Baron. On the front of that, a Hilborn injector feeds air to a Paxton centrifigul supercharger from the AMT '57 Ford. Intake plemums are made from brass square tubing.

Man that is wicked Dave!!! I think the front wheels are all wrong for this one though, a set of MAS, or Herb Deeks photo etch wires would look best, or even a set of resin Halibrand 12 spokes. MAS also did some very nice 12 spokes too!!! I think it would give it the old school look better than the newer spoke wheels......MHO!!!

I had a set of Deeks PE baskets ready for it (he doesn't make the drag wheels anymore), but I decided to go with something a little more dangerous looking. I didn't want this to look so much like an old-school dragster, but something built by throwing together a bunch of old parts. Totally unsafe and unlicenseable, but somehow still do-able. It's like the rat-rodders equivalent of a Cacklefest car.

Dueling dragsters sounds kewl..! I'm just hours away from finishing mine but I'm not happy with my front wheels. I will not glue them on until after the classic...
I like the idea of dangling wires from your dash board but I think I'd just use some bare metal foil on the canopy for a trim piece & call it a day. Any parachute or do you subscribe to the Burt Munro method of stopping..? Nice job & good luck, if you have any front wheels, bring em along this weekend... PlEASE..!

Jeff, do you want vintage-appearing wheels or will more modern pieces do? I have a pair of machined aluminum five-spoke modulars meant for slot car racers - or I have a set of Deeks PE wire baskets, but I don't have rims or hubs for them.
Edit: Yeah, there's a chute. Just haven't painted it yet.

Hey Dave,
Thanks for getting back to me... You've seen what I have on there & I like the 6 spoke design but they're not real clean looking rims up close & you know me (Mr. clean)..! ;D ;D ;D
I don't care if they're new or old as long as they're complete & look KEWL..! The front axel came off TD's Bad Medicine showrod so maybe with that big spindle (1/8th " ) I might even be able to use something off a dicast motorcycle..?
You know the drill, it gets frustrating hunting down parts, so if you have something you think looks good, bring it down & I might luv it..!
Thanks bud & see ya soon,
Hizoot ;D
PS - Glad the classic is not people's choice, you would have kicked my a$$ already..........................................................!
