I remember buying this kit from e-bay, it was incomplete, and i had a real hard time building it!!!! The decals dissolved completely when i tried to apply them, and parts were missing. this was my first buy from e-bay, probably paid to much, and i had to wait a long time before it finally arrived! Still i LOVE this thing, i know it's not perfect, but it's one of my favorits

Another nice one Ramone ;D
It can be both heaven and hell to buy kits from evilbay. I have been lucky, every time I bought expensive, rare kits, they allways arrived in safe condition, and as promised.
Keep ém coming....

Nice job! Of all the kits I built as a kid, that was my #1 nightmare one. I finished it, but man ... I've read some modelers' comments that the Lil Coffin is hard, but that was easy compared to this (at least I thought so at the time).

Once again Ramone, you sell yourself short. Perfection is in the eye of the beholder and it looks fine to me. I know how an artist can be though, they are their own worst critic and only you know what you don't like about the build. In any case, I like it a lot. I've yet to build this one but all I've ever heard is horror stories on how it goes together. So you didn't get the hood with it? The hood seems to be the tough part about it. I think they had to add a resin cast in the last reissue of the original kit because of the authenticity of the Orange Crate.

You're right A.J. there should have been a resin hood in my kit, but it wasn't there!!! Also the floor was missing and some engine parts. The guy who sold it to me said it was complete, what a ripoff!!! You should know i live in the Netherlands, our hobby store only sells kits from Revell Europe, that means no showcars or other cool kits!! I have to buy all my stuff on e-bay.

Its all those horror stories ... and my old memories ... that really want me to try this one again! Although I might strip off most of the chrome and just Alclad it afterwards.

Hey Ramone, why do you complain ? In the Netherlands you have one of Europes best model car shops, didnt you know that ? Try this link: www.toms.nl - go to his website and chose from the manufacturers AMT or Revell or Monogram .... (or others) You will be surprised that they have hundreds (!) of very nice kits - of course not as cheap as in the USA but if you calculate shipping costs and importtaxes from overseas it is a very interesting price - I buy often from him - he is very reliable and he has also a shop where you can go and buy ... Tell me if you like it Markus (Germany) PS: Good to have you here - I like your models !

Hey Marcus, I'm sorry you are right, i completely forgot about Tom. Going to car shows with my charger i met Tom many times and bought numerous kits from him!! but what i mean to say is if you want the out of production kits and there is no recent reissue you have to buy on ebay!! P.S glad to hear you like my models ;D ;D ;D

Hmmmmm ... don't have the Undertaker yet ... lots on eBay and at good prices, while one of the LHS here is trying to sell it off at $23!!! New targets to go for: Orange Crate, Undertaker, and the Tommy Ivo dragster. Could someone survive putting those three together one after the other?

Hi Ramone, yes Tom is a nice person - never met him personally but the email contact was good - he even offered to bring kits to shows in Germany ... but I live too far in the south so the postman had to bring them. What I wanted to say is that he has also lots of showrods and even most of the recent reissues like the dream rod - I dont know if only one shop in Germany has it - thats why I like to buy at his place. But you are right - with older kits there is only one chance to get them ... in US-evilbay. well, ... on evilbay Germany there are also sometimes a few old surprises but you have to look often .... and the prices ... hm ... I don't know if this is any help or not, but Amazon.com sells some model kits ... one kit I checked (the AMT "Two Much" dragster) had a shipping charge of $25 to Europe from the US.
I was surprised to see the MPC McLaren MK8D for $10.95!!!! One of the LHS has it for $25.

That's a great looking build, Ramone! It was always one of my favorites and when I got back into modeling in the '80s, one of the first I rebought. I've been very lucky on evilbay over the years, always the kits I bought came as described and arrived safely! A funny story- Don mentioned Carl Casper's UnderTaker dragster- I started building about '66, and had quit pretty much by the mid '70s (girls, 1/1 cars took up all my time) but I had kept some kits and lots of boxes of parts. Years later, one day I started going thru the boxes and I noticed a few parts that all had a residue of that cruddy non-toxic glue (Remember that crap? Wouldn't hold ANYTHING together!) so I put them in a pile and saw that they all went together to make some kind of kit, so I cleaned everything up, painted the body black and put it together and had a dragster I didn't recognize, didn't know what it was. Just a couple of weeks later the UnderTaker was reissued by Polar Lights, I saw it on the shelves and I said, "so that's what it is!" I bought 2 of the reissues right then![
