That looks great!
Would the build have been easier if the chrome had been stripped off, and then painted with Alclad later when it was partly assembled?

thanks guys. if you do ever decide to tackle this kit...make sure you have plenty of patience. scrape the chrome at every glue joint...it's a must on this car. i did, but parts still fell off because they are so tiny. when building the chassis, wash your hands alot. the chrome becomes slippery from skin oil after handling it alot. parts will be hard to hold onto....and you will get frustrated. i got frustrated several times, and even gave up on it twice. i thought i lost a few of the tiny chrome parts, but i found them stuck to my thumbs...lol.

Sounds like it could give those early Revell kits a run for their money Rob. I've never built it but it's always looked like it could be a real bear for sure. Nice job Rob. ;D

That looks great! Would the build have been easier if the chrome had been stripped off, and then painted with Alclad later when it was partly assembled? yes, that probably would have made it alot easier. but, i have never messed with alclad. i did think about stripping chrome off the frame and just painting it with a color...but then, it wouldn't be true to the 1:1 car.

I think my biggest problem was sliding the body on too the frame!! talk about a tight fit. Sounds like a Polar Lights kit! I liked the company but boy -- the thumbs really got a workout on some of their kits by pushing stuff into place! If I heard a snap, I wouldn't be sure if it was a plastic piece or a finger bone!

LOL I think my biggest problem was sliding the body on too the frame!! talk about a tight fit. LOL Great Looking build Rob don v yeah don, i know what you mean. but, the hardest part for me was getting the interior to go down over the frame. i actually had to heat the sides of the interior and spread them out, so they would go over the frame rails. and then, getting that rear roll bar brace through the back of the interior...that was fun. getting the interior to sit inside the body with the edges flush with the top edges of the body....that was another fun few moments. this is a really cool kit...but it's such a pain...it was no longer fun there for awhile. it became work...and this is supposed to be fun.

i am going to send it to dave this week sometime. e-mailing pics. from home for me is a very time consuming project. i can save them to cd, and e-mail the pics to dave alot faster from work. later on this week, i'll send it to dave. i still have to put on the skulls, and the base, figures, tombstone, and bat still need to be painted. i am sending those parts to dan barten...i can't paint those kinds of things to save my butt. dan will do some weathering and dry brushing on those. but in the mean time, i'll send pics. of the car to dave.

Well, now that we all know about it, why not wait until it's completely done before sending the pics. This is what I was trying to relay to Ramone.
Dave suggests if you are submitting a model to the gallery, not to post them here, because it takes the wow factor out.

nontheless.. I like this build up of this finicky model.

Way to go Rob! Paul Burke once told me this was one of the toughest kits he ever built, so you KNOW it's got to be a bastard! LOL. Nice choice of color, and bear or not, looks like you got it all done up nicely to me. All the chrome is blinding!
