Well, to start this story, awhile back on the old board Brandon offered all the leftover parts from his bike build to the first person to reply to the post. I was the lucky one!!! So I figured that I would try to build a bike the said HOTROD all over it, one that Brandon would really dig. The frame was the softail frame so a lot of modifcation was nessasary to get that long, low, lean & mean look I was after. The whole front section of frame was cut apart, and a single downtube was fabricated & drilled. I also re-raked it, and used the longer forks. The forks had even more rake, so I cut the forks apart to use aluminum tubing, and reworked the lower triple tree to take the rake out. The tank was repositioned, and shortened in height, the front lowered, and the rear raised. I also used the rear fender from a Crusader kit as it hugs the tire better. The seat is a drilled sheet w/ rear support to keep your butt from sliding off (not to comfortable, but goes with the look) Nothing says HOTROD better than red & black, so that's what I did, and I also made an 8 ball shift knob!!! I hope ya like it Brandon, and everyone else!!! Enjoy.....

The only reason Brandon would not like it is it only has 1 motor. ;D
I think it looks just perfect though.

Wow, that turned out great! Glad to see they went to a good home. That paint work is flawless, and I really like the drilled frame tube and pedal arms. Awesome!

Wow. Pure art man. How about giving us some "how-to" tips? what are you making your plug boots from? Also, how did you mount the handlebars? Any more suggestions for upcoming chopper builders? Keep em' coming. I really enjoy your work!

Thanks for all the great compliments!!! This was a fun build for me, especialy for the fact that I set out with a goal, and it worked!!! We all have our own unique style of building, and mine has mainly stayed with scale realizm. I focus on making a model look as real as possible, and keeping every little detail as "in scale" as I can. I'll try to do a few How to's when I get more time, and you guys give me some ideas on what you'd like to know. I would like to get 3 more bikes done for this years contest season, but for now I need to get cars done for clients. I always said I would never turn my hobby into a buisness, and now after almost 5 years of building models professionaly I'm really regreting it!!! Oh well, such is life....lol. The plug boots are made using 1/25 heater hose, I cut a 45 degree "V" a little off center, and when the wire is inserted & bent at a 45....instant boot!!! The bars on this bike are held in place with two U bolts made from larger diameter strait pins and a little CA. If you look at the top picture you can see them!!! Let me know what how-to's you like to see!!!

How did you get the rims painted while leaving the spokes chrome? Did you use a brush, or mask and spray? And if you masked, what did you use?
