Wow. those are really cool builts Fred.... Really cool. I like what you did to the Ice T, coloring the wheels too, kind of giving it a sinister look. And a beautiful color. The tow truck is cool, I always liked tow trucks, and the Sand Shark... I never really liked that kit so much, but after seeing yours, I think I gotta get one myself... And finally. Its nice to see another Boot Hill Express done in black like my own. That model just look the best in black I think... All very cool models Fred, thanks for sharing....

Great builds, Fred! I never sell anything- I'd miss 'em too much! When I was a kid, I'd build a kit, then trade them for more parts to build other kits- that's why I don't have most of my old ones, had to buy unbuilts of them off ebay.

I know it is tough to sell them, but after awhile they are just collecting dust and taking up to much room. I have gotten pretty use to selling them without having anxiety attacks ;D ;D!!! With the computer and digital photography plus having my own website www.graveyardrides.com atleast I have documented proof of my models. Plus it gives me extra scratch to finance my multiple hobbies. I suppose when you really get down to it, it is like any other craft-not all artist, hot rod builders, bike builders etc keep every item they make or create--you gotta pay the bills!!!! ....Atleast I having fun doing it! About the only time it might bum me out is if I do a local Model Show and either I do not have model to enter (cause I sold them all) or that I didn't bring my best model because I had sold it.....other than that, I try to build a bunch in between the local shows, enter them in the shows then after the show sell them.......................Some guys get rid of wifes for better or newer ones......I'll keep my one an only (19 plus years) and get rid of the models for better or newer ones......its a lot cheaper and less headaches!!!! ;D ;D ;D..........Fred

Fred, I know the feeling if I keep them all that I built in the last five years I would have no room and the extra cassh does help buy MORE MODELS, YEAH!!!! Chief

They only hang around for a little while until either a model show or I sell them. If you really think about it, if it wasn't for this great website here, nobody would even see my models!!! Kinda like a Howard Hughes with some giant model collection!!! I have a huge collection of unbuilts--that will be built,(I do not collect shrink wrap and cardboard) but if you saw my built collection in person it would be pretty small!!l
Right now I have Two Tractor Trailer cabs built, the klown kar, and the D.O.A. Delivery Truck on display--thats it!! I might hang onto these until July because of the Syracuse Nationals Car and model show--but after that--Hello Ebay!!!!
I have probably built more Johan ambulance and hearses, along with the ecto-ones of polar lights and amt than any one else, but all have been sold. I had been burned out on hearses and started building the show rods just within the last year or so. But I have some more hearses stock piled and getting the itch to start building them again!! ;D ;D..............Fred

Very cool builds!!! But´I simply can't understand why one would build such nice models and then sell them....??!!!! I sell all af the models that i build, or i give them away. for me, i have to sell some to finance more models. being on a tight budget, i build, sell, buy more. (it's a viscious circle) the effort and imagination that i put into my builds usually gets me good money on e-bay. 1 built model sold on e-bay, will pay for 2-3 un-built kits....sometimes more. the ones that i give away are usually the ones that i put the most effort into, or they are built from out of production kits. that way, i can keep track of where they are. i don't have a place to display my built stuff, so they would end up sitting in a box in my closet.

I don't really have much room for display, either- after a while they go gack in a box, stored in the garage with the boxes of unbuilts, also stored there. When my daughter moves out, I'll have my model room back again- hopefully in the next year- but then, I'll miss HER!

wow, nice builds fred !! i like the different colors usd on the rods instead of the same old colors. i never liked the sand shark kit , and i've never bought one, but after looking at your silver shark, i'm definetly going to pick one up.. the color you used works so well for that kit , i'm wondering why it was ever made in yellow .

Thanks Don!!! Yeah, I thought the same thing about the sand shark!! I don't really like yellow and I never cared for the kit to begin with. One day I was in a Model Train store and the owner also bought alot of old trains at estate sales and he had some models that he must have picked up, well here sat a sealed sand shark for like $7.00 so I picked it up thinking I could use the parts out of it for something else. then I thought, why not paint it like a shark. The underbelly of the car is white, with the main color silver and the tips of all the fins are black like a real shark. I agree with you that a different color other than yellow makes the kit better that it appears on the box!! That is why I painted the Ice T something other than yellow, and I just thought the boothill would look alittle meaner in a black and gold color................Fred

Whoops!! Sorry scaledetail I didn't see the question about the tombstones..... For you and Kim, I got them at Michaels arts and crafts stores during halloween to go with the halloween gaveyard and spookyvilles they have. I may have also got some at Big Lots during Halloween also. These go with my wife's spookyville collection (same as the christmas buildings) and I am only allowed to play....um I mean use them to photograph my models and then they go back in her collection!!! I sent some duplicates that she had to Joe D. with the items he won from the Kerry auction......Maybe he will cast some in the future to sell??.....or just wait until Halloween and go to Michaels ;D ;D...........Fred

Hi Barten!! The front tire on the german yellow "weathered" Rommels rod was done with a corse sanding wheel on a dremel tool and also by hand with 80 grit sand paper. The rim itself was weathered with "rustall" weathering kit and also using chalk pastel powders and then sealing everything with testors dull coat for a flat finish. ...............Fred
