2 builds that i "snapped" together this week

i got both of these from aj (thanks aj old buddy). they were complete, except for one part.
they were both in need of a good cleaning too.
once they were both cleaned up, i decided to detail them, by using very little paint.




i added plug wires and fuel lines. i painted the heads orange, clear coated the valve covers and the blower. i also clear coated all the red plastic parts. i detail painted the header openings with flat black, and the injector gold. i left the, tracks, control sticks, hand brake, headers, blade, and the rear hitch all in their bare molded silver plastic. i also painted the sledge hammer and the shovel that are strapped to the floorboard.





the plastic peices on the bottom of the tracks were broke off. these are what holds the dozer to the black base in the wheelie position. i made up 2 peices of rod, and drilled 2 holes in the base for them to go through. then i drilled 2 holes in the bottom of the tracks and slipped them over the rods. the rods hold the dozer in the wheelie position.



this one was complete except for the steering wheel, and the steering column. i made the column from a peice of plastic rod, and the wheel is from my parts box. i clearcoated the body, the blower, blower scoop, the rims, and the bucket. i left the headers, seat, tires, control sticks and parachute all in their molded plastic colors with no clear.






i added fuel lines to the injectors, and painted the header openings, and knobs on the control sticks flat black.
this one has a big "bare foot" gas pedal in it, which came with the kit. the bucket is moveable up & down, and it also dumps.





these are such cool little kits. i still have one more of these t.d. construction snap kits to do yet.

Oh Man those are Kool!!!! I can remeber building those when I was like 8 or 9 years old!!! Boy seeing those pictures sure brings back my childhood!!!!......Fred

Quite welcome Rob! I'm glad to see you brought them back to life.

A couple notes for the guys that may want to look for these. For some reason that steering wheel on the Screamin' Skipshovel is almost always missing. It is held in by a little bead molded into the bottom of the column/steering wheel which is inserted when you put the 2 body halves together. The only thing I can figure is that if that bead gets knocked off or broke loose, then the column falls out hence it being missing. Maybe even kids mistook that for not being needed and it being missing.

As for the piece on the Boss Bulldozer, well, it's a tiny gas cap that just fits by friction into a small hole in the back of the seat and that one is just common sense, they don't stay in and barely go in for that matter. The other thing with the Boss Bulldozer were those tabs on the tracks. I think they were actually molded slightly off to fit the base so when you go to snap it in, it is a slight struggle and if you force it they will break. I know! I've done it...LOL! So I've actually just carved a little bit off the inside of the slot to allow for a little more ease on the ones in my collection.

Otherwise on these, there are lots of little pins and tabs that can break on the scoop or dozer mechanisms so a little TLC when taking them apart and putting together is necessary.

They are absolutely fun kits though and some of my favorites.

PS Rob: I thought I sent an orange Screamin' Skipshovel. I didn't realize I sent you 2 of the same color. Would have been nice to at least get you different colors.

nope aj, you sent a red bulldozer, and a red skipshovel. the mountain mover that i have is orange (which needs an orange scoop). i totally forgot about the missing gas cap on the bulldozer....lol

These little kits have alot of appeal after all of these years. Nice saves too Rob! That Screamin' is pretty hard to come by!
