Below are a few cut and pastes of Dkal Dan's ramblings that should help define the definitions of our definitive contest. (got it?) Let's ask questions in this thread and stuff to keep from having to repeat answers.

The Slippery Arts Name-Swap Contest officially opens today!
For those who may have missed the earlier discussions of this
contest, or who may have forgotten, it goes like this:
Think up a great name (or names) for a model car project.
Send the name or names, along with ten bucks for each one to me. I
will accept entries until Valentine's Day, February 14, 2007.
I will work up original art and produce decals for each of the names
entered.
The decals will then be sent to the entrants, but each decal set will
be sent to a different entrant. You will not get your own ideas. I
will work up the designs as quickly as I can to allow for the longest
building time possible.
Then build an original model car based upon and using the decals.
The building deadline is June 30, 2007. By then, we will have a site
to host the pictures of the builds.
As of now, there is no prize support for the winner or winners. We'll
work on that, as well as iron out the remaining issues as time goes
on. I'm open to any and all suggestions, and greatly hope this is an
inspiration to all the klowns in this community to be as creative as
possible. I know that there is a lot of talent in this community, so
let's see what ya got!
Please email me for the address to mail your entry. I will only
accept mailed entries with fees attached as "official" entries. If
you submit more than one name, you will get back the same number of
custom decals. So be as creative as you can. Since we are a showrod
based community, show rods are highly encouraged, but there's a
strong interest in customs, vintage drag cars, choppers and other
areas of model automotive expression. The theme here is Creativity,
so wild-and-wacky concepts will fit right in. Kitbashing is strongly
encouraged. The standards that the entries will be judged upon are
quality of build, originality of design and how well the model fits
thematically with the decal concept.
I am open to simple modifications of the designs to fit the project.
That is, if you find that the decals would work better with a size
change, or a simple color modification, I will supply new decals to
better match the model, providing there is time remaining.
Prizes will be whatever we can scratch up. More info on that to
follow.
Put on yer Thinking Caps, boys and girls. I think this could be the
wildest contest yet. I love the concept of three different minds
working independently to produce an original model car. There's not a
lot of building time, but you all have the chops to make this one
special.
You can PM me here or email me at slippery_arts@yahoo.com with any
ideas or questions.
This is gonna be so cool!
Happiest of New Years to all of you, my friends here on the Coffin
Corner. I think we all know how special and important this community
is.
yer pal,
DkalD

Yes, Valentine's day is the deadline for entry. Until midnight, CST, February 15. If you're mailing in your entries, I will accept a postmark with a Feb. 14 date. I don't wanna be a jerk, but I want to get all the possible entries before I start distributing them.
Yes, it is a one class contest.
Schteve, the prize support offer is greatly appreciated. Thankyouthankyouthankyou.
I am going to wait until I have ALL of the entries before I start distributing the decals. That way I can be sure of a fair distribution. Sorry Brandon, you're gonna have to wait a little.
My PayPal account is my email address: slippery_arts@yahoo.com. My password is ....
Hah! Gotcha!

Yes, you all make a lot of sense. So...
When the contest entry portion closes, I will assign the names to the builders, and notify each of you, via email of your build
name(s). Then you can start picking out donor kits, stoking the creative fires and get to work. You can even get back to me with specific dimensions and even any color ideas. I will work up the art and print the decals as fast as I can. I will try to get the overseas decals finished and mailed early, to allow for the extra shipping time involved. I will mail decals out in batches, as I fill pages of decal paper, with the intent to beat my deadline by as much as possible.
How's that?
