It's boring as hell here with everyone building "super-secret" contest builds......I miss the good old days when we posted in-progress shots all along the way....To me, it seemed to keep everyone pumped up and building stronger. I know some folks say it made it too intimidating for new builders, but it sure was fun to see progress..... We've got such a long haul between these contest ending deadlines, it could get to be snooze-city around here during the summer months.......Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.......28.......

I had asked.......Do we post in progress pics or not? If we do, where should we post? But....I was ignored. Can't do much without a protocol. I doubt anyones going to rush out and duplicate what I'm building. If they do, execution will be the deciding factor. Just hoping this doesn't turn into a popularity contest. I'm not everyone's "fair haired boy". And everyone that wants to build something- do it. Don't be intimidated! Let you in on a secret.... not everything even the better builders puts together is always great! I have my share of things I really don't want anyone to know I did let alone see. Hey! New contest! Koffin Korner Bloopers. Who's screwed a build the worst?!

I have to say Tim that in the entire time I've been with the Showrod Rally/Coffin Corner (beginning) that I find myself a bit distant because it definitely is nothing like it used to be. Even though I don't build often or complete nearly anything as far as models ago, it used to be so much fun just to log in and check out what was going on. Watching you build your stuff like the Ghoul Bus and Tiki Chopper makes it fun, interesting, and very inspirational even when not building. Anyway, I still check in nearly every day and I do so enjoy seeing the in progress and completed builds but they seem to be getting farther apart. Maybe it's just that spring/summer drought coming on. A.J. Thanks, I got it and was wracking my brain on how to kitbash it... I won a raffle prize at the NNL West and went up to select a kit and there was this japanimation GPX racer thing and I asked the guy "What the heck is that?" and he said "I dunno" and I said "I'll take it!" and I knew right then that somehow it was being merged with the Pink Panther kit.
The in progress stuff motorvates me to finish my stuff. I saw some pics of Scurvy's build and I was hyped for two days...

ahhh... don't get lazy and cop out, finish your stuff.... I really didn't care for the surprise element anyways... I thought it was stupid and I said so repeatedly. This contest is all up in the air, we are two months past the decals, I got my names, I'm working with them, I have limited amount of time, inspiration comes and goes... it's my build and I don't care who see's it. This entire sight is fueled by eye candy... visual stimulation.... creative people.... to hide crap until the end is silly (and hard) you guys can keep 'em secret if you want, you can share if you want.... I don't care. I personally get inspired by seeing projects in progress... we build stuff here, (well except for AJ, hahahahaha...) I've bounced ideas off of several rally memebers who were stuck, and in the process gotten good ideas about my own stuff. I know there are several small groups that have been doing the same.... what's the difference between showing one member or everyone? We all gain from doing so. You think they built the pyramids without consultation? But I digress..... SHOW YOUR TKITS

we build stuff here, (well except for AJ, hahahahaha...) Hey now! I just don't finish anything...LOL! I probably said I don't build but meant to say I don't build much. Between working full time again and then coming home to work on upholstery and trying to squeeze time in on the volksrod, it doesn't leave much time for building these days but I do try to pick up my XActo and glue from time to time. As for those 2 builds Brandon! Way cool! And that is what get's me pumped up to build whether it be models or something on the volksrod. I just take inspiration where I can get it. A.J.

Hey you guys..!
You made the rules, you can change them if you want. It seems we owe Dan the secret builds but how about allowing photos on the new contest. I think that would be cool...............! My 2 cents, Hi-zoot ;D

Wow. Lotsa ruffled feathers... I didn't mean to upset anyone, (Unca Paul...), but you have to admit, has it not gotten a bit stale around here of late? Yeh we've had some great builds coming thru the in progress/completed area, but alot of it's reposted old builds, stalled projects, idea's never to come to light..... I just always really enjoyed looking at how peoples builds progressed as they motored along on contest entries. Seeing the bare roots of the idea come to life is really kool! There's always been a few who don't post as they go, hey, thats fine. You don't HAVE to! Lot's of times when we were posting this stuff, someone would say, "Hey, you it would be kool if you did this or that to it", and I'd say yeh man that WOULD be kool to do! So I think it helps in the process too. I've always been a "rules are made to be broken" kind of guy, so you'll just have to live with me I guess...LOL. ;D

I hope youse guys take this the way it's intended. I'm having doubts about this contest panning out. Contest or not, at this point, I'm building and posting. I have material and the ability to get it done.(Got a new camera too and I'm gonna use it!) Devil take the hind most! So far Brandon and I are the only ones stepping up to the plate.

I have to agree. How many times has anyone replicated another guys kitbash on here? You know what? Russ from here asked me about my Splittsville Deora kitbash, and asked if I minded if he could build one, and I mailed him a CD with about 75 shots of the thing in various stages of completion and am more than happy to answer any questions. I don't care if anyone builds what I have built... this is a fun hobby. Do what you want, build how and what you want. I know one thing, if you want to make an EXACT copy of most of my stuff, you better have a deep parts stash.... muwhahahahaha.

Oh, it WILL finish, and it WILL be a good one. I have no doubts. The decals WILL get to you, so be patient. The decals WILL be top-notch, and worth the wait. And anyways, if Dan fell of the planet tomorrow, we all have our build names, and that's really all we need! Those of you who know me well, know I have a hard time sitting still. I have the attention span of a gnat sometimes. I bore easily. This site used to be more fast paced, always interesting, crazy! You never knew what you were gonna' see when you logged on! I miss that. The energy and creativity level was of the charts. It's still there, with lot's of new energy from new members as well as the old guard, but it's being buried away like it's some government file! I've watched my Yahoo Kitbash site slowly die a horrible death, and I don't want to see it happen here. C'mon!! It's just models! Bring em' out if you want, show em' off! If you don't want to, thats fine too! Do what you want, but have a good time doing it!!
