With all the chatter going on about contests, I have a suggestion for all future contests. I say after the Dkal Contest is over, we have no more "contests". Forthwith (didja like that one P.C.?) all heretofore (howsbout that one?) plastic gatherings be reffered to as "challenges". The word contest seems to carry a negative connotation and tends to scare people off, whereas (I'm full off'em today) the word challenge has a more positive friendly jousting feel. What say yee all? Let's throw a little class at the world and spiff this place up with more touchy feely vocabulary.
Or, maybe not.

I get ya Steve, more along the lines of "I challenge thee to make a showrod from an object found in ones kitchen"! (I think it sounds better in Olde Englishe) ;D Or possibly just a challenge to kitbash two showrods in a month? or two?

To conjure ones mental images into that inspirational plastic gem we dearly call the showrod. What great foresight and ingenuity along with great craftsmanship to make it come to life!!!
translation---get your arse going and start building something that we can see you plastic minions!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

My C'sV's & T's entry is buried, half-built, under a pile of junk on my work bench. (at least it's painted)

i think the main problem is the same thing we all are missing - more time ! even though many of us are roughly the same age, we all have different jobs, and kids of various ages, not too mention our other hobbies. a friend of mine who is the same age as me is now a grandfather, but my oldest son is only 4 years old. when we were all about 12 i'll bet our lives were pretty close to being the same. ,but everyones life is different now, and while some guys can whip out a custom kit in a week or so, for others can take months to complete. i've only been able to enter one of the contests, but i do enjoy looking at everyones builds . if the contests become a problem, maybe the contests should be one a year. that should give everyone a chance to finish a build - just my opinion !!

We used to just build to submit them to the guest gallery. We had new stuff to goon at nearly every week. That was motorvation enough for me. My current job has me travelling in the summer so my time has dwindled... but I too like seeing new entries and what everyone else can dream up or salvage.

I agree Don, I wish I could still build like I did back when I was 12. ;D That's was the only thing I was interested in pretty much.
