Who was around for the first contest we had here. . . .. do you remember being blown away when we first got to see all the entries at once. . . .you couldn't stop looking at them! ! ! ! For days. . .and with sneak peaks you are not as thrilled when you see them again and again. . . so when it come time for voting. . . .you are not going to get the WOW factor . . . because every one will think it is an OLD build! Not for the present contest!
I think it is great to NOT show. . and the adrenalin RUSH is outstanding when the contest opens for public viewing! ! ! !
Who was around for that first contest and tell me what you thought! ! ! ! Remember? ?? ? ?
GB Barten PS I'm still working on the name game and getting closer!

I personally would rather wait ,,and like Dan said " get the WOW factor ", ,,,,also,, some might be intimidated by some of the builds in progress shots,,,, but on the flip side of the coin,,it also can inspire some,,sooooo,,, i guess it's a 50/50 thing. ;D

i don't mind sneak peeks, as long as it's a really bizarre close up! keeps everyone guessing til it's finished! ;D

i agree 100% with dan. sneak peeks don't get it for me..but i have been known to post them before...lol i like to wait until the very end to post any contest pics these days. liek dan said...the wow factor can make or break a contest build i think. if sneek peeks are posted, when the final contest pic is posted ...some will think "oh, i've seen that before". not as big of a thrill as seeing it for the very first time. that's how i sees it anyway.

It doesn't matter..! Sneak Peeks are going to happen weather you like it or not. That just seems to be the way it goes around here. The good news is that not ALL sneak peeks are of contest models..!
Hizoot ;D

Sneak peak? Jeeesh, I posted my entire contest build - so far. I may loose that intitial impact, but I like sharing the build. Guess I'm a magazine writer wanabe. I will probably stop posting before the final assembly. It would take away from the overall show.
I always say, It's a hobby. Partcipate how you want...build, talk, collect, whatever. But remember to be kind.

Well Dan, I agree that there is some impact lost when you see the build before hand but if I think the reasoning behind them being shown was to inspire to build. There was a topic not so long ago about whether to show or not. Somebody made the point that showing was a good thing because it inspired others to get in there and build. Maybe it was that the contests are mainly to inspire to build and not so much for the competition. In any case, it's cool with me either way.

Hey Martin!!!!.............What happened to the Hot Rod Truck!! ;D ;D........My hired Goon Klowns are getting very impatient!!!! ........They are training their Balloon Attack dogs, giraffes, snakes, monkeys, etc and are headed your way.....might take awhile as they couldn't fly (their arms get tired!! ;D) so they had to take a Dingy!!......anyway when they get there just don't wear anything sharp or pointy or the Balloon Attack animals won't have much of an effect!!!! ;D ;Dl

sorry Fred, still unfinished..... I't almost done i just need to get some sheet styrene to make a rear window and it's done! On a lighter note, i've been decorating (hence the delay) and i've finally got somewhere to work on models that doesn't involve sitting on a step ladder in the kitchen ;D

Well, I really dig looking at progress shots myself. You guys have seen a few micro shots of my entries, one in primer, but it's totally different once you get the paint on there. I get amped up bigtime looking at your progress shots. Scott's T has been a blast to follow as it comes along. I just went to his site last night and peeked at it some more. Scurv's Mess-o-crap was awesome as it progressed. Some peeking is kool early-on I guess, but things always change, so there's still a huge element of surprise......Do what makes you happy.....
