I am not sure how many members on Coffin Corner live within a reasonable distance from Portland Oregon, but, there is a contest coming up on February 29, March 1 & 2. This the oldest continuous model car contest in the U.S. and is put on by Scale Auto Builders Association ( SABA ). The senior group will be competing in about 18 different classes with the winners receiving plaques and ribbons. The judging is FAIR. There are no "good ol' boy awards". This contest is held in conjunction with the Portland Roadster Show, a 1/1 show with about 300 cars in competition. If models are brought in on "move-in-nite" there is no charge for entering the contest. After the show opens, there is an admission charge for the show but not for the contest. All model builders receive a one day pass. The contest is moderate in size, usually having between 200 to 250 models. Building seminars will be conducted all during the show. If anybody has any questions, just ask me .....................

I always try to make it to the NNL in Portland every year, but I've only ever drove down for he Roadster show once.. I did go through the model contest, that year, but didn't enter anything. Might have to drive down this year!! Thanks for the dates, and heads-up Bob.

Isn't that the same weekend as NNL West? Sorry, but Santa Clara trumps Portland in my personal scheduler.

Jeff, I don't think it's the same person, the Portland Roadster show, and The Rod & Custom show are two different shows.

The Portland Classic is not connected with any other model show. The 1/1 show, the Portland Roadster Show is the host for the contest. The rod and custom show that was mentioned takes place about two weeks ahead of mine. It is common knowledge of those who attend both shows that mine is superior in both the location as well as the number of entrants and their quality. These are two different shows and both have a lot to see, but, if you can only attend one ................SEE MINE.

Scurvy, you are, unfortunately right, about the conflict of dates between the NNL West and The Portland Classic. I was gonna attend the NNL this year also. But, Steve and crew, screwed up and didn't make their reservations soon enough to have their normal week-end date and had to settle on the same week-end as mine. Hopefully, next year we can do both.
