Guys, I know this is way early, however, I wanted to let you all know about an additional aspect of the Portland Classic Model Car Contest. The Portland Classic is the Model Car Show that is part of the Portland Roadster Show. The Show this next year will be March 6-8, 2009. The idea behind the "Best of the Best" is to get previous class and "Best of" winners out of the general contest and into a Judged Contest for winners. The "Best of the Best" isn't something new at the Classic, but hasn't been part of the contest for the last 5-6 years. The one thing we are going to be requiring entrants this next year is to provide proof of winning a class or best of award. If any of you are interested in entering the "Best of the Best" contest let me know and we can make arrangements to get your entry(s) shipped to Portland and back to you. Dave

Wow Dave, I thought this had disappeared long ago. I always wanted to get in on this one, and have a car that has won many awards, along with three Best of Show awards, but the original rules had a five year limit. Great to see it resurface again!!!

John, you are correct, the Best of the Best was something that was added to the Portland Classic several years ago and because of a lot of things ie:Travel restrictions etc, went by the wayside. What we're hoping is that this will give above average modelers the chance to compete against each other. The contest will be ran on a points system with a panel of judges, with each judge being concerned with just one aspect of the build (Engine, Interior, Chassis, Finish, and Detail) and may the best entry rise to the top.
