....Classic, or has the excitement worn off? It happens every contest, the novelty of the idea wheres off quickly, frustration sets in, lack of motivation, or just life getting in the way. How many of you are still working on something? Have you started? I hope so. I'm almost done with the first one, hope to do another and finish my Pie Wagon as well. Roll call?

I am Tim. I'll have my ICE T for the contest as well as another very cool build I just got under way on a couple weeks ago. So I'll have at least 2 for the Cobweb.
It's probably just the summer thing. I was planning on getting things rowled up very soon. I only get to work a little here and there myself due to getting underway with my 1:1 Model A. But I still make a little time in the evenings to work on my projects.

Yes Tim, My first entry should be done in a week.. I've posted some progress pics of it, updating as I go along . My second entry is a little more complicated, so I really want to get the first one out of the way.

Okay. I'll post a couple more pics, but this thing is breakin' my stones, so if anybody laughs at me, I'll have to kill you. Please keep in mind that I have never bashed a kit before. Alright, enough excuses, here goes..........
First I added some strips of plastic to minimize the amount of bondo needed(on top) and where I had to fill in the windows. After I finished, and being a bit dicouraged, I had these guys pray over it. I think the one dude has gas pains.
My first attempt at bondo. Guess I didn't need the plastic strips afterall! I believe I'll be doing an a$$load of sanding. Maybe I'll get those guys to pray over it again.....
For giggles(plus while I let stuff dry on the '55) I'm going to build that '57 dealio. My wife thinks it's "cool", so I figure I may as well do a build she likes so's I can stay out in my music building longer. Hope my bandmates like the smell of Bondo! HeeHee!(if they don't, well, they can bite me)

Nice start but,
Don't you think it would look better (more balanced) if you re-open the back windows..? It had a nice slopping curve in the factory configuration, it looked very elegant IMHO... Just knock out the pillar & have one long a$$ window..!Hizoot

Yes I did, actually, like it with the windows open. That was my original intent, but was talked into filling in the midsection by my son. Now I have bondo-er's regret , but I'm married to it. I've sanded the heck out of it(even though Tim begged me to let him sand it--HaHa!! Anybody who believes that, stand on your head!). My wife even took a pic of me covered in dust, for her own amusement. But thanks very much for the input, Hizoot! Now I'll know next time to go with my gut!!

God, I'm still laughing! Whaley old buddy, that post just cracked me up! That's just classic man! You have to post that picture your wife took of you covered in dust!
As far as the bondo, that stuff is just a bear to work with. It's heavy, gooey, and a pregnant dog to sand on a model. I think my first point to you would be, "less is more"! LOL! The more excess you slather on there, the more you'll have to grind away, and the more dust you'll have all over you! I hate to say it, but I almost think I'd scrounge up more bodies, and go back to square one! Don't consider it a failure, but rather part of the learning process! You may still be sanding at Christmas time!
Great idea though, and worth following up on! Keep at it!
The Cobweb Classic deadline is Halloween, October 31 guys!
Jeff, I'm surprised you even read this thread! You gonna' enter? Would like to see you in there.

Hey guys, this is what I compiled so far, 1 Beer Wagon Kit, ;D a Revell Donks kit (for those over size wheels and tires) ;D a bunch of cast off pieces from a Fruehauf Big Rig trailer kit. ;D I am still waiting on a Infini T Kit I ordered last month for some motor parts. I haven't started the mock up yet but I'm planning to do Dave Marek's McHauler and should get going over the next couple of weeks. I'll get some pics once I start cutting. Gerry G

Enjoy....... It is coming along, though. But needless to say, I'll be buying a buttload of Zap-a-gap for future use. Bondo, not so much.

I hate sanding that stuff down.

LMAO!!!! ;D ;D ;D
Classic shot with the dust bunnies! Man, you should be doing that outdoors or at least with a mask!! NOT good for the lungs! (yours and the rest of your familys!!) I've got one of Bill Michaelsons Roth Bike Trucks, which is just a solid chunk of resin, and I looked the same way a few months back after about 40 minutes with a dremel reaming it out, and it still isn't done! I had that crap everywhere!! Your progress looks good tho! Keep at it!

Hey Eddie that is too funny!!!!! ;D ;D.............I thought maybe I was the only one that sanded my models all over myself!! That is the least favorite part of model building.......the sanding, sanding, sanding, and more sanding part!!!!!!! ;D ;D I myself haven't been working on any models lately as I have been swamped detailing the 1:1 cars.............and I have been looking for a 1:1 project hot rod/truck to work on with Michael as he will be turning 16 in August. I really want to do a father son builder project that we can flip/sell and then invest in another car to do and see how many we can do or decide to keep!! ;D This past week I have come into contact with an owner of a 57 chevy hardtop but he is undecided on whether he wants to sell or not and tonight whilel going for a ride after getting ice cream we find a 1963 ford pick-up slightly modified with a flip nose front end with a 351 m motor c-5 tranny etc and the price is just to hard to pass up. It is not perfect, but the mechanical stuff is done and all it really needs is some tlc to the body and a paint job. I will know by this time tomorrow whether it will be in my drive-way or not. If I get it, I will post pics!!! ;D

Fred, that sounds cool. I had a 64 short bed several years ago. Dropped a 302 w/289 HP heads and a 4 speed, that thing screamed. We clipped the front with a 72 Nova to get it dropped down, it was to much fun. Good luck and let us see pics if you get it.

Ahhh Bondo. The good news is that that stuff is about 90% Benzo peroxide - the active ingredient in Clearisil. Your skin will look great!
Keep sanding buddy.

Hey, Bill. Well, I'm actually Eddie, but I don't mind a nickname. BTW, Dean Groves came over last night and jammed out. He told me his crew is painting the new Publix in downtown Tampa next week. Maybe we could all get together and talk modeling...y'know, tell lies. PM us if you have the time to meet up, and I'll make the trip down there(fair warning, he works nights).
