Just for some of you ol' timers here who wounder why I'm posting this much..? It's because I got request from a couple people as to my thoughts on building & design techniques. I thought they might make potential new members & brought them here... Don't worry, I'm sure they're better behaved than I..!
As for the Rat, very little got done BUT yet a whole lot was accomplished..! The photo below illustrates how I had to move the interior shell about 3/16's in. forward to fit those tubbed tires out back. The problem is that now I don't like the look of those tucked rear tires...
If you study this kit, you'll need to keep the front tires off the body to have any turning radius. NOW is the time to start thinking about this people, for any number of good reasons. Mine is simple, back in the day we didn't rely on tubs but rather cut the fender to fit the tires if needed. So with my classic hardcore look still in mind, that's exactly what I did, see for yourselves..!
Now that's more like it..! Plus a couple good things occurred with this in that I can now move my interior tub back & I have now been able to establish my basic ride height as well...
I'm holding back on finishing the front until after I get the frame & suspension established to what you see here. I already know this kit rides a little high & I think of the " stance " as part of the basic design. Then I'll finish the front & entertain the ideas Flounder suggested..!
