When hes out of stuff like kits, glue n stuff, we.... slip it to him, so hes not embarassed. In the end I guess I did the right thing.. Sorry.

Outta curiosity....why do you want it so bad?
It's a ficticious kit of a car never made.
They never made the 71 Superbird , only the 70 was an actual production version.... 70 and 71 are two completely different body styles. On the otherhand, the Daytona Charger was a 70 and 71 option
And why only that particular kit?
Thanks for your thoughts....Stan

Thanks for your thoughts....Stan stan, your right but also wrong, my dads a 71 b body nut and he and i discussed this before, the 71 car did exist... to a point it made it to a scaled clay car designed to be studied in the wind tunnel, as well as the 71 charger. neither made it to production i believe due to the costs of what it took to build the cars. there is a company that is now producing the parts to build these beasts, i cant remember their name right off hand but if you look like on google or something you'll find them. i dont remember if the super bird was called the actual name but the charger they called "DayClona" as for the daytona charger, it was a 1 year only car 1969. 70 only had the 500 and it was i believe just a badge, no rear glass, wing or nose. this is why the superbird was built for 70. like i said the 71 cars never made it for both charger and runner. look for the DayClona and you'll find the info. the mpc kit was designed from the original stuff from mopar. just passing along what i have learned to others!

I had heard the 69 was the Charger 500's and the 70/71 were the Daytona's These were done during the "aero wars" for NASCAR rules.. (they had to make a minimum of 1000 production cars avalible to the public in order to be qualified/allowed to race on the tracks)
In 71 they were only allowed to run the 426 on the short tracks and a max engine size of 366 on the super-speedways because the areo advantage.
Since the rules for racing restricted them so much on the track, the car companies (Ford and Chrysler) decided to drop making these specialty versions.
R/R into S/B Charger into the Daytona Torino into the Talledega Mercury into the Cyclone
Thats what killed the production of these cool, mean machines...not the costs...from my understandings.
I do know that the Daytona's ran for 2 years on the track and the S/B only ran for 1 year
I'm kinda of a NASCAR nut....been following it since 70.
Thanks for the info on the fictitous S/B though.

1969 = Dodge Charger Daytona
1970 = Plymouth Roadrunner Superbird
I believe the minimum amount to be built was 500 - both cars barely made it - That's another reason they (mopar) dropped them, along with the insurance rates for normal drivers.

You are right Stan. It is a car that existed only as mock=ups and drawings. But, I just want the kit. And I am now old enough to have moved up to the "I want it because, I want it"state of mind. There is nothing rational behind my want other than a love of MOPARS and a taste for the good looks of this car.

Alan,
I fully understand...I'm still like that...then realality starts to set in....I've got enough "toys".
Lance...I had read it was 500 then also read it was 1000 units,so I went with that #....But you are also right.
