I am looking for some finned brake drums. If its only one, thats fine as I intend to cast it for my own use. I am looking for something with either a backer plate, or at least detail on the back so i can use them on the front of open wheeled cars. Thanks. Jody

Jody I'm not really sure what a finned brake drum looks like, but if it's the kind that looks like the ones for an AMT '56 Chevy Nomad, I have a handful that you are welcome to.

Rat Rod, I am well aware of those, but I am of a extremely fixed income and can not afford to buy those all of the time, so I must resort to finding something I can cast. Thanks for the help though.
bellyofthewhale, I am not sure. I am unfamiliar with those. Would you be able to take a pic of them for me? The idea is a brake drum, that instead of being smooth, or have slight offsets, have small fins going from the center to the outer edges all of the way around. The idea of the fins was to catch/create more air flow to keep them cooler for those hot rods racing around town. HEHEHE. If you ever saw a set of chromed ones you would fall in love! Thanks. Jody

Well if you are on a fixed income, it seams like you could buy one set and cast those, you dont have to keep buying them

Sorry big dave, but I am not the type to steel another resin casters work. I would not wish anyone to do it to me as it would drastically pee me off, so I refuse to do it to any other caster. Call it a casters code of ethics! Thanks. Jody

Jody, from your description, I don't think these will qualify, but I'm posting a pic on the outside chance they'll work.

I know you don't want to spend this kind of money... Last I knew Perry's Resin was making duplicates of these in pewter. Example shown is all aluminum multy piece by Bob Dudek. I have a set of the pewter ones too, they are pretty nice. The lug bolts are not included, so there is holes in the drum where they go just like the real thing! There is NO better Buick drums made on earth....have to choke your wallet though if you want the best and they are worth it. AMT ''66 Buick Wildcat has some in it, but they are not high detail...just wheel backs with some nice fins that look pretty good I guess.

www.thepartsbox.com/They have some in two packs and four packs. The cast is not like R&MofM, but I think they are worth the money. You will not manage to cast them much cheaper. Have a look at other of theire products as well, and You'll find a lot of interesting stuff. Also, if You order from them, the postage from Australia ain't that bad. If they charge You too much, the pay You back as well. Realy decent people!! Got theire Bedford(don't buy that on if not You will like a lot of work, it is based on a tin toy), that I'm trying to remaster, and mail back too them. Also got the RX2, that I looks nice. Some more sanding to reshape some bodypanels slightly, but when compared to price, it is as good as most of the Flintstone bodies. Look at theire Flatheadengines. That Centrifugal compressor is something I'll order one day. T.H.

thanks for the link. Some of thier prices dont look too bad! It looks like I would want to order the axle set to get the finned drum and backer plates as it is cheaper that route then it is to buy the brakes and the backers seperate. LOL. Jody
