That´s where I started... An unfinished project from fcma member. Lindgren kit (ex-pyro)... "mission impossible"... (Fcma = finnish car modeler association) I glued parts together and did some cutting... And after that I saw what was missing... a customized roof. I tested with vacuumformed piece and it fitted quite well. It needed a little cutting, sanding and plastic putty. (+ some masking tape) And now it looks like this Next thing is to create 4x4 driveline with Caddy Eldorado engine + frontwheeldrive gearbox and Corvette IRS.

WOW, that baby is gonna look FINE when all the final smooting is done. Engineering like that deserves a Paul Burke style paint job.

Some progress... Subaru 4x4 floorpan downsized to fit into Cords body. I made new sills and subframes of 2 mm styrene.

Great concept so far. Not sure whats going on in that last photo, but I like what I see in the earlier shots. Lots of good grafting and massaging you've done. Keep at it. I was always a sucker for those old super-charged cords with the side exhaust tubes...

Some progress... New design between fenders. I removed that ugly "nose" and made it much shorter and better looking. This is design #3... ;D

I find it kinda difficult to call ANYTHING about a Cord "ugly."

I think that old design was quite an ugly one... But Cords original gearbox needed space, a lot of it... That transmission cover on the Cord was quite notable when the car was first built; such a direct stylistic reference to the mechanicals underneath was unusual for the time and very noteworthy. That said, the Pyro Cord model is a clunky darn thing; I'm sure the transmission cover was as hamhanded as the rest of the model and that you were well-advised to get rid of it.

Andy Saunders in Poole, Dorset here in the UK (not New Zealand as mentioned before) is slowly building a Cord Coupe. Using Jaguar running gear. www.andysaunderskustoms.co.uk/new-cord812.htmShows how it was originally and the hard work to get it to the stage at present.

Body looks great! I like the little light pods below the 'bumper' area a bunch. Thanks for the link to the real deal too! I gotta hunch you'll be done with this before 'Cord of Wood" see's paint!

I see them! The in-progress versions anyway. Looks great! There's some nice builds in your Photobucket too, very cool!
Did this one get finished, or is it still in progress?
