There! Almost 50 parts later and I have a pedal asembly. I know... I'll have to retouch the pedals before final asembly. Looks like the return spring needs a little straightening too. Hosted on FotkiHosted on FotkiBack to the bench. Flounder

Oh man, that's insane! But in a good way! Very very nice indeed! 50 parts in just the peddles, does "Beauty" have a 'Parts count' total? Fantastic stuff there!

WOW, nice detail. Honesty, unless this is a show queen, some worn sections on the pedal is cool! LOL. I dont think my jittery hands and eyesight could handle doing that job there! Jody

Thanks guys. It feels like I am actually making some progress. I've got the frame nearly ready for paint and I made the cage plates. Since this pic they had their first trim and a coat of primer. All the mounting tabs are in place too. That took some time. That thermoform sheet is a real god send. SOooo many uses for it. URL=http://public.fotki.com/Scottcolmer/the-timbo-challenge/4bucks.html] [/URL] Hosted on FotkiMike- I have been trying to do counts on the sub assemblies. The next to complete is the bare chassis. If you take into account all the little mounting tabs, braces, and rod, it comes to about 100. Next up is the front suspension. Flounder

Masterful work. The pedal assembly is a model in its self.

Well, here are all the front suspension parts ready for final assembly. Pretty much all scratchbuilt. We have the plumbed front axel with a carbon fiber leaf, Hydralic lever action shocks, spindles and brakes and the calipers. Hosted on FotkiI'll be squirting the frame next. Flounder

I don't care what you "squirt on",
It's a shame a lot of that will be covered up..!PS - I finally understand those shocks & think they're ingenious !

Again !! Outstanding work !! you have my full attention, & I can't wait to see what the frame on this looks like !! Are those actual ( real ) holes drilled through the rotors?!! It looks that way in the shadow. Incredible.

Thanks guys. The kind works are always appreciated. ;D It's 5 am here and I am on 1 week furlough. Why am I awake? We got not one, but two puppies on Saturday. I HATE potty training. Kobe and Sasha (Guess who wanted the dogs, Jeff) are pretty good with everything else, but we are making little headway with the pee pee problem. Jeff, glad you like the shocks. I think they add a unique element and a flavor of the old friction action belly tank days. Parts count - 16 pieces each. Al, Those are photo etched rotors by detail master. They are a three piece pre-drilled assembly. It take a bit of work to get the holes lined up. In fact there is no way to get them all to pass through. I tried for almost and hour, turning them one hole at a time until I found the best position that opens all the outside ring and nearly all the inside ring. I ground out the center so they would ride on the carriers. Then it was a matter of sanding in the scuffs and polishing the edges. Notice the openings in thee top of the calipers? The vented disks will show through. Puppies are asleep again. Back to bed. Flounder.

Don't worry Chief,
God will see the details..! Plus I think he's going to put a photo album together for this... Flounder that is, not God.
SOOOO FLOUNDER,
That's right, this is your week away from the print factory..! Hope I see less junk mail.
Puppies..? Now I know why you have squirting on your mind..! As far as the dogs owner(s)... well the name Kobe says it all (what a shame) now she'll have to hate me.
Yes those shocks are kewl & I thought the same thing about the old belly tankers when I figured what you've done. Still, if you give me one more parts count, I'll make sure you have to sleep with Kobe from now on..!
Ok, what are you doing on these boards GO PAINT... P!$$ on those puppies, they'll be there when you finish..! Paint, paint like the wind, paint like never before, assemble later when you're in the dog house ! ;D
PS- Went to GG Del Mar & had a blast, we gotta make time to get out & just have fun..!Hizoot

Hey Cheif,
Zoot and I did talk about the unseen detail. So far the only thing that will be nearly impossible to see are the pedal return springs, which will only be partially visible if you peek through the support bracket.
And he is right, I will put together a small album to display with the finished piece. Hopefully all that will invite the viewer to look deeper into the model when the body is off.
I have mention before that this car evolved from a quick build into an engineering exercise. I've ended up designing a car to build a model. The fun has been figuring out how to make it all work as if it was real. I also wanted the model to be fun to look at on different levels. For the walk-by person then would see a unique design with hopefully an eye-catching paint scheme and even a little humor. For the car buffs, they would see some accurate parts representation, and the detail diggers can count the bolts and all that.
Another note on the detail...I talked to Mark Jones once and he passed on a simple trick of using different colors or shades of colors to set off each element. I have been trying to follow that theme without going nuts on using too many colors or unconventional color selections. I am also avoiding the whole photo etch stick on syndrome. Only fasteners where they should be.
OK, back to the bench.
