Due to a lack of decent tires and a similar lack of money, I've shelved the Smug Bug and went with an old idea I'd been kicking around for some time now, and I just so happened to have everything I needed too. I love a clever name as much as a clever design, combine the two and you get a sure winner! That said, here's that idea, come to life, it's the "Eskimo Pie Wagon"! What a tastey frozen treat!
Looks Great Michael!Gerat Idea...

I started on a hinge for the hood, I have no idea if it will work. I'd cross my fingers, but my luck has been all bad lately. The parts for the other half of the hinge. I mounted the hood side first, the cut slots in the front of the nose to mount the body side. After it dries, I'll fill and sand the slots.

Wowzereenos, once again, awesome stuff here. A little bit on my box-stock build. This will be 100% box-stock except ignition wires and some carpet flocking if I can get it: Got most of the engine and chassis work done: Here are my two trucks in the spray booth. Tried decanting a can of Tamiya pure white for airbrush, that was a first. The extra trouble seems worth the results so far: The big challenge will be these decals: Blake

I've just about finished the front suspension. I used 1/8" tube for the kingpin mounts and 1/16" rod for the kingpins. Plastic coated wire was used for the steering part on the spindles. When you turn the wheels, the steering linkage also moves. I also swapped out the T'rantula front wheels for a taller set from an Outlaw kit. I really want to go with a photo etch set of wires, but I don't think it's in the budget. At least the Outlaws wires are thinner than the T'rantula's. I have to redo the airbag mounts on the axle and make a tie rod and the fabrication of the front suspension is done. Hopefully tomorrow my rear rim centers will be here and I can button up the rear suspension.
Mysrerion, if you are looking for someones 2 cents about the wire wheels: I hope you get a windfall in the near future and can afford the PE ones. The ones shown don't really hold up to the standard of supremely awesome scratch-built masterpiece which is clearly being set here by you sir. Just my honest 2 cents. -Blake

Refined the EPW some more, added some headlights... I took out the Pie Wagon door and made a set of side by sides. The rear end is from a Cherry Bomb, slightly tweeked... Headers are made from some 1/20 scale velocity stacks, intended to resemble the headers on the Tijuana Taxi... I also made and interior bulkhead behind the seats... And here's the 'track-pack' all nice and inclosed... Now, what color to paint this thing?...

The big challenge will be these decals: Blake, this is not only a challenge, this is more of something, for, hmm, masochistic assessed model-builders... Nevertheless, I wish you good luck!

At least the Outlaws wires are thinner than the T'rantula's.Your work, Dave, is absolutely incredible, hat off! I use on the front, spoked wheels , as in several TD kits are involved: www.showrods.com/showrod_pages/bad_medicine.htmlwww.showrods.com/showrod_pages/sand_shark.htmlwww.showrods.com/showrod_pages/trantula.htmlonly to name a few... This spoke wheels are unfortunately only on the front detailed, on the back, they are too much thick and fat. My opinion. Comic spoke wheels, if I can not see between the spokes... Therefore, I edit the spokes, a little. Above the originals, the edited below: Above the originals, the edited below: Left the original, right the edited: This is my tool: And then the result is ready: Well, this interference requires a lot of time, but afterwards they are much nicer wheels...
