If she does, then you can show her this pic- yes, its my work and display area ! I dont have a lot of room ,so everything is confined to one corner in the basement . Believe it or not, the white shelf has kits stacked two deep . Theres about 100 buildups on the shelf, plus about forty old nascar (sorry ,bad word here) on the back wall. The top shelf are all unbuilt kits still waiting to be built . On the good side ,although it looks like crap, nearly all the kits are in johan or amt cases so they are dust free. Look close and I'm sure you guys can identify a lot of the kits .It may look bad, but I actually get things accomplished down there !

Your area looks pretty good to me. My work area doubles as the dinner table, so it usually doesn't get to messy

My work area is in the basement, next to the furnace and across from the laundry ... so guess what household chore I get to do? (although in the wintertime, its nice to be next to the furnace and have laundry appliances running to warm up the place) That looks awfully neat to me! My area looks dangerous to those who haven't been in there before ... usually its just myself and one of the cats who has to keep an eye on things. Or my wife occasionally walks in, points to one of the kits and says "isn't this done yet?"

My wife never complains about my work area, only about the amount of time I spend in it! Looks like you've got quite a nice collection going there Don, but I would go crazy trying to work with that much clutter around me. Can you say OCD?

Yep, Your workspace looks like mine. When I am building I have all the crap, er... um "working materials" scattered all over the place. I then have to take a break, clean and organize my work bench, then continue on my build. If its too cluttered I can't work on a model either, I have to have some sort of organization. Now...... the stacks of model kits, that is another story! ;D I have my own building room so the wife really doesn't say anything. I do have my dwarf rabbit "Tweak" (yes, as in South Park character --Tweak) and then usually two of my three dogs come in and lay on the floor and my youngest cat then comes in to see whats up!

Not as long as I have it cleaned up by dinner time! I also build at the dining room table on a piece of card stock. I have a nuts and bolts bin that house all my parts... I paint everything on the front porch or at work. I have taken over the hall closet for kit and work stuff storage, and I store all my built ups in a few of the kitchen cabinets up high.. I have model boxes on display behind the cabinet doors flanking the stove hood.... Apartment life rules! ;D

When the misses and I Bought our house back in April - the second bedroom was deeded to become Hell. That was so she could tell me to go there and it wouldn't be far. ;D ;D It has the computer, records and cds, my books, model bench, and two closets in which to store my stuff. When I'm at the bench both the dog and the cat check up on me. Heres a pic of the desk.... Lance

My wife supports my hobby 100%. I have 3 rooms in which I build and store my stuff. I had this problem when we met and she has never said one negative word about it. She is the best and if I had to make a choice of my models or her the models would go in a second. I love my wife and this hobby but she is my life.
You do not want to see my rooms.

My wife bitches if I get too carried away with working on something too much. She is my best critic though, because she sits on the can and looks into my build closet and studies what I'm doing! LOL! She was just giving me sh*t about the pinline around the bottom of Frankie's Converse's not being straight, so I had to go back and redo it!

My honey, Nani, gets stranded in model widowland from time to time, but she does support my passion. She actually encouraged me to bring my stuff in form the garage and work on the dining room table, so we can at least be in the same room during the marathons. It really gets to be a mess. I even spilled paint on a chair and didn't get in trouble. The fun part is when I make some dumb little piece and make Nani look at it (with magnifiers). She is pretty understanding.
My unbridled kit buying is long over. I would have to hit the lottery and start building full time, if I were even to think of building them all.
I guess I got it pretty good.

I live in a double-wide mobile home with three bedrooms. The master bedroom has the bed, the 2nd bedroom has the office ( computer, etc ) and the third bedroom is mine for modeling. The only problem with my arrangement is when I forget to close the door when we have visitors. A computer desk, shelves and cabinets surround a card table ( my work bench ). The floor doubles my storage space. Messy ? ..................Well it took me 20 minutes just to find the table the other day. But, when I did, I found tools and parts that I had lost last summer. But, MESSY ? nah, just a small lack of organization. .......................Maybe someday ......................maybe.....................NAH.

My wife has never complained. I work in a corner of the family-room on a collapsible draftsman's table. When needed I can pack it away but most of the time it looks like a direct hit. She does crafts as well so she knows how to make a mess.

My wife loves it. She found out I was taking a trip to mark Moriaritys "Kustom Kingdom" and said no way am I going without taking her. Whenever I go to any events, custom shops, or even meeting Foose, Boyd, Barris etc for work related issues, she likes to go along whenever possible. Here is a few pics of my work room in the basement. I have a room in the basement that I do work in and then I have another room upstairs that I work on stuff and also a display stuff. This changes every so often. Here is the most current pics I have. I will take more later. Enjoy. Wow ... love the Hot Wheels stuff, especially these old sets with that fantastic artwork! Mattel 's art department was the best back then.

I had a designated hobby room, once, with the computer, a drawing table and a model bench once upon a time, but then we had kids and they needed a place to sleep. and my parents built me a huge shelf-couunter in my room when I was a kid and then I took over the utility room on the back porch... but all you really need is a flat surface and a tool/parts box. I keep all of my "in-progress" projects in boxes and I have a couple of boxes with nothing but chrome trees or wheels... I like working at the table cause I can still be a part of family life and watch/listen to the TV and talk to my girl or the kids and still be "present"... and when they are drying I stick them on top the fridge where I can eye-ball them for a day or two. When I'm done I pop everything back into the hall closet until the next session. I can also bring it to our model car nights wheich we did on Wednesdays... Just pop the parts bin and a few boxes in the car and I am mobile. I'd like a designated area again, but not having one is no excuse not to build....

It's pretty kool checking out everybody's little "corner" of the hobby! What a bunch of great stashes!
Nightstalker, what's the scoop on the king-sized HW blisterpack with the large scale "Light-my-Firebird"? Never seen that before. I quit actively collecting Hot Wheels several years ago, but still have an eye for them and pick up an occasional car or two!
