Looks pretty complete.....the cloth is dry rotted but most major parts look intact. Some work and new upholstery and it would be show-able! At least its not altered in a major way like some rods!

Well, looking at the car next to it and the guy sitting in a lawn chair in the back ground, I would certainly say that someone was proud to be the owner of this car and showing it at a car show! Looks like nothing more then a good cleaning, repainting and new upholstry! I say seeing the motor and pipes and rims on there, that this is in good shape! Look at some of these that have been left out, the upholstry is gone or rotted, and the engine missing and paint pealing being used for trash bins or dust collectors ect. it is a complete rolling chassis with motor. Maybe even that motor works? We dont know if they pushed it ofdf of a trailer for that show or drove it? Where was this anyways? Jody

You have to admit that thing was kind of ugly to start with. Is it being restored? Where did you see it?

The definitely looks like the real deal. As for it being kind of ugly, have you seen Barris's version?...LOL! This thing is a thousand million times better than that one. The whole thing is simple but yet better thought out in the design. But that's just my 2 cents for what it's worth. I know there are a lot of Barris fans here. I just don't care for his version.
Like Jody said, where was this taken at? Hard to believe somebody had it out in it's current condition unless he was looking for somebody to restore it.

Those wheels and tires are awesome.... Somebody needs to repop stuff like that.

personally, i think it looks pretty damm good considering it's age...and the fact that it was probably shoved in ther corner of some warehouse for a long time. i never knew that the original had 4 wheel disk brakes...or did someone add those on sometime later ? i am pretty sure that the twin blowers are fake...it's amazing that they stuck with the car for so long. you would think that someone at some point would have wanted to stick them onto something different. like alot of you guys...i'd drive the poop right outta that thing. i bet it would pee off alot of people in traffic, but hey...you'd clean up from stop light to stop light. (lotsa puns there...lol)

To me it looks very complete, and restorable, I sure hope one of the many show rod restorers around gets a hand on it!!! Check out the bed buggy too, another great one to restore. What's ole George doing, taking credit for building the bathtub too?

MAN.......... Look at that thing. You know it's kind`a like a model. You build it Nice the first time then it's sits on the shelf for years. Some models get tossed around for years and break apart then get rebuilt again someday. I'd love to see it rebuilt now.. BiLL..

Did anyone else see that bathtub model on e-bay right now ? ...not by Eldon, not by Doyshua, by " NICHIMO" (never heard of this) but looks very Kool... But @ $180.00... ... ... well you know ...

I don't think this car ever ran, it sure doesn't now ( missing several plug wires), and if it did, the blowers were fake. It is down right shocking that it could still be THIS complete after all the years and neglect. It'd not only be nice to see restored, but improved into an operational "car". And, in closing, this one is far and away a better looking custom than the Barris design. One last question, once again, what's the story on these two Eldon models being together again?

What's the story on these two Eldon models being together again? Mike, if your referring to the Bathtub & Bed Buggy, the Bathtub was from Eldon originally, but the Bed Buggy was an MPC kit

WOW! It's great to see that this showcar is still around, despite it's present condition. Doesn't look too bad....probably wouldn't take too much to put this one back into top show condition. Always liked this one more than GB's version too....and I'm a BIG Barris fan as well!!! Something about how it sits and that double blower set-up.....too cool!

Sad but nothing a bit of TLC wont fix. I like the way the rear suspension has been engineered

This is Reisner's "The Bathtub," not Barris' "Bathtub Buggy." And why is George Barris posing with the car if it's not his and it looks so bad? This still is -- whether you appreciate the car or not -- a part of pop culture and show rod history. I hope someone restores it...remember when one of Roth's cars was found in front of an adult bookstore in Mexico in horrible condition?

It is sad to see old famous cars rotting like this.....but on the other hand, I am very amazed at how they are "found" or still surviving in many cases. I have seen some that were completely restyled or repainted and not even recognizable. The same goes with some of the most famous drag cars and kustoms from back in them days. I know a guy that owns and restores some of them. You just have to get lucky I guess. Thank goodness for the guys that buy and restore them! If it was not for these guys, I would have never seen modern day photos or video of the Hirohata Merc! I was not born when it was built.

Seems to me that the only truely sad part is it doesn't run. That was the biiggest draw back of so many show cars to start with. They never actually ran.

I reckon it's a good job it didn't run... there's no weight over the front which would seriously compromise the handling, and in an accident the guy(or gal) driving would be completely smooshed by that engine. look where the pedals are!!! Still cool though

Man, that just needs lots of TLC!!!!!!
You'd think someone would at least clean the dust off the header pipes!
I loved this kit when I was a kid, would love to see it re-popped again... I've always liked it better than Barris'.
Could you imagine driving into work with that ride!!! People would crap their pants.......

I`m really happy to see that Bathtub survived all those years. Only missing part is the boiler between two showers? It could be easilly restored. Thanks for pics!

Would you seriously sit/perch on a loo seat, a few inches from a thrashing blower belt of a V8?? to drive it.
Where are the pedals?, fuel tank? (lines don't go anywhere), brake master cylinder etc. I doubt there would be anything under the blower cases at all.
If it WAS a runner then I would need the seat up I think. ;-)
This is a show boat/trailer queen. Most likely an empty engine, scrap from somewhere. Many good looking showrods were like that. All show and no go. Very similar to the model kit. What came first the rod or the model??

It is good to see it again. I had a show rod book in elementary school with several pics of this car. It was one of my favorites. Looking at the pics the car looks pretty complete and does warrant a restoration. This is one of those show cars that will not develop a nice patina as it ages. It looks like crap.
I really like the slack blower belt and a fuel line to no where. ;D ;D

once again, the blowers are fake. they are nothing but empty cases on a custom made manifold. if this did run, there is more than likely a single 4 barrel carb under the blowers. the druid princess engine was like that as well.
