Hi all. I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes by doing this, but I didn't see this contest mentioned on this part of these boards, (where I suspect most people would look for it?) so I figured I'd add a new thread, here, just to make people more aware of a new contest that's happening for Deal's Wheels, Zingers, etc.
As far as I can tell, the contest seems to have originated over on the general discussion part of the Coffin Corner 2 boards, here:
coffincorner.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=15165
... with the idea being that there were already so many cool Deal's Wheels and general cartoon car builds going on, anyway, that why doesn't someone encourage more of the same, by announcing that there's a contest going on. So, the public announcement that the contest is "official" happened here:
coffincorner.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=15314
In addition to that, several cool-looking entries are already floating around, on either the "in-progress" or "completed" project sections of this board. (Check those sections out!)
And, just to sweeten the pot: very recently, Tres Wright, who runs the Deal's Wheels fan web site (and archive, really) has now offered further encouragement of more cool 'toon builds, by way of saying he'd throw in some prizes for the contest (if it's okay with others to do so) ... and wants to show some of the builds on his web site, at some point (if it's okay with individual builders).
As you'll see if you check out the threads mentioned above: a few details are sort of still looking a tiny bit fast-and-loose, at the moment (as far as final completion dates and the like) ... but, a contest is running for 'toon style models ... so, get building! :-)
