[glow=red,2,300]HOOKING FRED UP!!![/glow] I carved a piece of plastic rod to fit in the end and glued it in place. I also added a washer to increase the glueing area. Next I ground the back of the Quick Change Rear End down flat. Then I cut a piece of sheet plastic to cover the opening. I drilled a hole in the rear end and inserted the Tubonique Rocket Engine in place!!! I am going to need to figure out some kind of bracing or retaining device to hold this Jet engine in place...Wow, 1300HP!!!

The hell with HP, how much thrust does it have? [glow=red,2,300]1300HP TO THE REAR WHEELS!!![/glow] This guy had a go kart that did 150MPH in the quarter mile! It is an interesting story....Check out "Turbonique" on Google. The articles I read mentioned that there wasn't much thrust compared to the amount of HP going directly in to the rear end.

[glow=red,2,300]GOT PAINT!!![/glow] I started painting Fred's Race Car. The body was sprayed with Testor's Inca Gold. Everything else needs to be handpainted. The Interior & Engine were painted Flat Black. I also used Chrome Silver, Magnesium, Red and Gunmetal paints on the Engine and Chassis Parts. The Spark Plug Lines are attached to a Prewired Aluminum Distributor.

[glow=red,2,300]FRED GETS SOME COLOR!!![/glow] Fred is done in Tamiya Light Green. Gloss White was used for the Helmet, Eyes & Teeth. Flat Blue was used on Fred's Jeans. His Shoes and the Helmet Trim are Flat Black. The Shift Handle is done in Chrome Silver. [glow=red,2,300]Still more to Paint...Back to the Paint Booth!!![/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]MONSTER DECALS!!![/glow] The MONSTER decals didn't show up very well so I outlined them with a fine tip pen. I made the ACME ROCKETS decals on the computer. I removed the pin in the rear axle so I could adjust the position of the rear Slicks. This allows me to adjust the angle of the finished car on the stand.

[glow=red,2,300]FLAME ON!!![/glow] I found these plastic "Flame" shapes at a Ceramics/Crafts Shop. They are Ceramic Christmas tree decorations. I have used them for tail lights before. They come in several colors too. I think I will use the yellow one and add some red to it. Here is the Yellow Flame in place on the ACME Rocket Engine. I wasn't sure about adding the Flame, but I think I like it....

[glow=red,2,300]FRED GETS BELTED!!![/glow] I made Fred's belt with 1/8th inch wide masking tape. I colored it with a Brown Sharpie Marker and then put it on. I cut out the belt loops & buckle. I think I'll look in the parts box for a new belt buckle...

[glow=red,2,300]NOW FRED GETS PINNED!!![/glow] I had a Bell Helmet, years ago, when I had a bike & I remember chrome Snaps that you could attach a clear visor to. So I drilled holes along the edge of the helmet. Then glued cut-off straight pins in the holes. They look just like those snaps now! Added a coat of Black "The Detailer" wash to Fred's Body. Fred also got his Red Eyes! Bloodshot details coming later...

[glow=red,2,300]GOT WHEELS!!![/glow] I made some progress on Fred's Super Altered! I adjusted the "Wheel Stand" angle as high as I could make it with out hitting the rocket engine on the ground. Then I applied Zap-A-Gap on the rear axle to hold the car in that position. Front & Rear Wheels, Radiator Shell, Fuel Tank and Frame Rails have all been attached. Removed the "Teeth" from the scoop. I drilled holes in the ends of the front axle & inserted brass rods to support the outside of the wheels. The ends of the brass rods will be covered with a few drops of White Glue, & painted over when the glue dries. (I didn't glue the Slicks to the base yet.) Here is the rear view! The Parachute is from the Willy Wild kit. The Gauges are Slixx Decals. I moved the Rocket Engine to the top side of the rear end to add ground clearance. I drilled a new mounting hole and made a small disc to cover the old hole. The base was covered with "The Detailer" wash and then sprayed with Testors Dullcoat.
