[glow=red,2,300]THE BASIC PLAN...[/glow] Here is a mock up of the basic idea that I have for CORDVETTE. I am letting the design evolve as I am building...

Not sure how the rear fenders will fit in, but the rest rocks! Of course, I'm a bit prejudice when it comes to Cords too. Maybe if you used the kits rear fenders, just pushed them forward a little, about where the Vette wheel opening would have been more or less. Sort of what I did with the Cord of Wood.

Thanks Mike!
The rear fenders in the 12th scale Cord just weren't long enough or wide enough for me.
I agree the rear fenders will probably be moved forward...after I carve away some more plastic and rebuild the rear end! More photos coming...!

[glow=red,2,300]Mirroring the Rear!!![/glow] I cut the trunk off at about the new halfway point. Then I cut out a similar section of the trunk from the second Cord Body... I cut and fit the trunk sections untill they fit together nicely. Then I glued them with Zap-A-Gap & Testors Red Label. The New Rear End shape is startng to come together!

Wow, I like where this is going. Do you find the larger scale easier or harder than 1/24-5 scale in the building process ?

Wow, I like where this is going. Do you find the larger scale easier or harder than 1/24-5 scale in the building process ? Thanks Dave! Yes, the plastic is much thicker, it's harder to cut. Theres a lot more sanding, more glue and more paint. They are a lot of fun to build though, you might try 16th scale it's bigger than 25th scale, but not too big. Lots of 16th scale kits available too!

[glow=red,2,300]Making The CUTS!!![/glow] The first cuts were made with a Dremel tool and a large Cut-Off Wheel. Things were evened up with a sanding block and 60 Grade Sandpaper...

[glow=red,2,300]Sides On![/glow] I traced the openings onto sheet plastic and cut out the shapes. I attached the plastic with Zap-A-Gap & Testors Red Label Glue.

Got a lot goin' on there Ira! Are you deliberatly building all that history in, or is it just a coincidence? Let's see... Corvette, Cord, boattail... Auburn... Auburn Cord... Corvette... Zora Arkus Duntov... Zora... Cord... Zora's Cord... I think I have a name, if you like...
How about the "ZORD"?

As you are combining the Vette with the Cord, what if you took the bullets from the vette fenders and molded them into the tops of the cord fenders? The Cord fenders already have a crease to blend the bullets into.
Just an idea for ya.

The 12th scale Corvette Fender Bullets will appear on an 8th Scale Custom Corvette later this year, these were the last parts I needed for this major restyling project!!! I think the Cord Fender Tops look a lot like the Corvette Fender Bullets. They blend well with the new body shape, New photos coming soon!

[glow=red,2,300]CORDVETTE TAILLIGHTS!!![/glow] I wanted to make Vette style lights, using plastic tubing and Plastic Rhinestones. I started by setting the tubing next to the body to judge the angle to cut. It is about 30 degrees, so I cut 4 tubes at 30 degrees on the miter box with a razor saw. I used an 30 degree oval template to mark the holes for the tubes, and the cut them out. When I got the holes carved and filed smooth, I slid the tubing in and glued it in place. Here are all 4 Taillight Tubes in place!
