Paul I agree, this is a perfect choice as well; Winfield bought this and turned it into something else( I can't remember the name, but it's kandy blue with multi colored graphics ) ; I don't mind his mods; but I wish he would have popped a mold of the Stilletto & worked with that & not messed with the original.Not sure if there are decent pics online of various angles needed to replicate; but I'm sure there would be a bunch in the older magazines, etc. Attachments:

One interesting Stiletto fact. MPC paid for the build and made a clay model to scale into a kit, even sent out pre sell fliers on it. But it never got past the 1/10 clay model phase. On page 43 of the "bible"  Course the Reactor would be cool to have too, Paul.  |

Mike Scott did a beautiful casing but the Roth family stopped them from being made. There were a few other reisn bodies around but most are long gone. There were a few build ups on here at pre Photo Bucket event. Paul |

Yes...that's the plan. I figure that many of the showrods had these large canopy like shapes so it would be on me to get that part figured out. Good question as I know its easy on my end to make the shape, but its another problem to solve that I'll look into soon.

Fantastic....!!! ill have to post some pics of the one I partially scratched built a long while ago out of pvc and some eccessories out of brass......already have the red translucent bubble wind screens....Sign me up for one of the 3d printed ones in a scale I prefer 1:18 scale......Im a true scratch builder as most of us are on the CC and that will always be my preference...but for the 3d stuff im open to....depending on what it is.....Because for 40 something years there is not one thing I couldn't scratch build some how.....to which makes it more gratifying..anyone can order a part, but can you really take credit for that.....hmmmmm! I think not is the angle most of us old school guys's are referencing....I hope this isn't taken wrong because it wasn't meant to be discrediting to the new way of doing models...To each his/her own is the way I see it.....3dscaleparts you have skills inthis field of 3d printing keep it up at the end of the day we are all modelers.....Build on everyone!!! take it light..Kabdriver,3dscaleparts...etc...you guys rock and keep motivation in us dormant builders.......

All good words buddy! Trust me I am in awe of the true scratch builders. I'm 48 years young and I recall building the funny car models when I was really little. In fact I have pictures of my brother Kevin and I with models we built in our hands and we were in kindergarten. So that puts the beginnings at around five years old. These were the Revell Don prudhomme and Jungle Jim kits. No snap kits for us back then! I admire the craftsmanship and skill that goes into the scratch building world...whether its cars, planes, boats...you name it. A skill is something you earn and you cant take it away. As life would take it my brother and I somehow ended up making models on the computer for the real world...Kevin being a product designer and myself building models for video games. We have been in this career thing for 25 years building models on the computer.
Funny thing is when both Kevin and I turned 16 our dad got us into working on cars. It was our dad that got us into building models. So the natural direction for us was to build a real car. My brother and I restored and Hot rodded VW's back in the 80's We turned out a couple nice ones that even got featured on a magazine cover. Building a 1:1 scale is like building a large model to us. So it was about five years ago I got crazy into the 1:8 scale kits and felt the need for some true old school wheels. I decided to try out my cad skils and make some wheels via the "3D print" Well as it turned out there was a thirst for demand on the wheels I was making and felt there might be something here for this model community to give them something that would be hard to scratch build.
So here are now and at the end of the day as I told Kabdriver.....I want to give the community something that would be otherwise very difficult or impossible to do which is the bodies for some of these showrods. The showrod community is not the only ones wanting specific bodies either. So it becomes a balance of time and vaule on how to justify making a particular body. An example would be someone asked me build a Mazda 3 body recently. I have to ask myself who else would want that body when it takes hours to make one? I like the idea of making bodies that the manufactures never made and have some popularity because it stands a chance of selling well. In not here to get rich, but knowing I can make something that more than a few would want gives some justification to building one.
Maybe going off topic here, but I want to be clear that its my true intention to only give the community a bit of "juice" to build what may not have been possible knowing full well that if I only provide a body you still need the skills to finish it. Some items may need to be created as "essentials' ,but my main job is to provide the main component(body) for final completion.
How's that for a reply!!!!!!!!Its all good with you guys as you keep me motivated as well!

I know what you mean I'm a graphic designer/tatoo artist etc.. my dad was a hotrod head then to the 70s van craze... Lol..i get the evolution of things. I free styled bikes, break danced, and was even an 80s graffiti artist. I was in film for 4years and did claymation for 2...and some of the art work, bike tricks and break dancing have all evolved into some mind blowing things... I highly appreciate your efforts and making things available for the modeling community kudos to you my friend..now if i can just get this damn!!photobucket to work w/me i can get some pictures up.. I've been working so much my mental state on the picture posting has got me semi lazy... Lol

My scratch building skills developed strictly from need. Usually even to this day, rarely is there a kit or a part of what I want. In the real world I grew up surrounded by a dad, uncles and cousins who raced oval,drag and built custom cars. From 1971 to 1983 I owned Genuine Motorcycle and Machine. I restored Indian and British bikes, built quite a few VW trikes and H.D. choppers and had one win 2nd in the NYC Colosseum and one featured in Easy Riders mag. This was the time of the beginning of aftermarket chopper parts. Some day I may even work from more than an image in my mind. Paul |

I have scratch built some stuff that hasn`t been available, but for me it doesn`t matter how parts or car bodies are done: 3d or scratch. Most important is good quality of the product, taste of design and rare subject.

Great stuff 3DSP. ! When I first saw the page 1 photo I immediately thought of a documentary I watched a while back about bottom feeders . (stop giggling at the back ..) Heres why....  Its called a Barreleye fish . The similarity is quite convincing to a weirdo like me  LOL Can't wait to see the finished machine , always loved those Indy "fatter than tall" tyres & snakey pipes . |

Thanks for asking! I've been spending the majority of the time working out the inside skin of the body. With limited visual reference of what the roach looked like from inside its been slow as to how I want and how it really looks like from underneath. It slowly getting there, but I knew from the beginning it was going to test me!
