Not that anyone has yelled 'foul' or anything, but with the increase of membership as of late, this is worth repeating.
There will always be requests for missing parts and WE ENCOURAGE members to help out other members wherever possible. I myself have been the recipient of a few (many) members (and green haired klowns) generocity to assist me in completing a model that was missing parts.
WHAT IS NOT ALLOWED though, is requesting missing parts so one can complete the contents of a partial kit with the intent of selling it on ebay (or other means) ~ or ~ to fill up ones own 'stash' of cool parts they "may" use someday on some project.
It's not that I've seen this happen before, but, regretfully, I have.
So, this is just a reminder, if you need a part for a project, by all means, ask away. If it's a swap, and you get your part, make sure you SEND your part of the swap.
If you are selling / giving parts or kits, this of course is not an issue.

I totaly agree with your words of wisdom Sir. I would also like to add that if anyone offers to "find" a part, said anyone, should make the effort and not leave a fellow modeler hang on in anticipation.......i.e.; "Hey, I have that part!", three weeks later; "Oh, I think I have that part.", four months later;"What? That part, yeah, well, I have to dig it out of an earthquake and well, I'm in a body cast right now, maybe I can do it later?" D'uh

Or another variation where someone asks for a part (or even a complete kit), you say you can help them out and then nothing! I've had this happen three times in the last two months and we hadn't even started talking money!
If you're not going to read responses to a post (or even PMs) then why bother posting? Or am I missing something here?

I totally agree with all of that has been mentioned, and I apologize to anyone if I have been a problem requesting parts.

I agree. if you are "helping" some one find a part or kit dont leave them hanging around for you to decide to help them. do what you say in a timely manner as to keep the tradition alive and post of this nature obsolete. I enjoy helping others out and getting help. rallygsc, chuck, george and tyler to name a few are the greatest people i have met. they are willing to help in any way they can and I will do the same. and you wont wait unless I said it will take a few days to get it as i have some things sent to me to help you.

Hmmmmmm.......This has been an age-old problem, and I have noticed we will get a person pop up as a new member, and suddenly they are looking for all kinds of crap. I have more kits and parts than I could possibly use in my lifetime, and I don't mind helping anyone out, but downright mooching does get on my nerves sometimes. Probably the biggest offense of late was all the pricks who stiffed Joe Demicola on the RC tires. You know who you are, and so do many of us. It wasn't bad enough he GAVE you the tires, but to not even send him postage after he shipped them from freakin' AUSTRALIA, give me a break...... You ruined it for everyone, he isn't forgetting, and the senior members here aren't either. Shame on you for being such dumbasses. I've had lot's of great experiences sending/trading parts with many of the fine folks around this site. I've had people send me a complete kit I was looking for out of the blue, and just been floored. (Paul Canney-hard to find Hawk Woodie, Hale-way too much to mention, Fred-all kinds of goofy stuff...LOL! Bill Clark-resin bits and pieces. AJ-my savior. He filled more holes in my TD collection than I could have ever hoped for! Steve Hamaan, several kits at great prices...Chuck Darnell, way too generous..Joe Demicola, sheez, I can't even begin to thank him for all he does for me...I could go on all day, because I've been around here a long time. I understand the eBay thing, but, if ya' need it, ya' need it,and that's that to me. I don't care what the heck you do with it once I give it to you, but I would much rather see it on a build than in a box somewhere. It all comes down to a matter of trust. I don't think we've had too much abuse of each others generosity and kindness. This group's tendency to be like this could leave us open to unscrupulous turds though, and it probably will happen once in a while. In the meantime, be nice, be courteous, and be careful. A bit of common sense, a just plain "Thank You" will do, and do something nice for someone else as well.

Well .... let me say this about that !.... ;D ... I personally have been more of a giver than a taker .. granted I have had several of you Krazy Klowns drop me a goody or two in the mail over the years and it is greatly appreciated !!.. as a matter of fact many of the parts sent are lurking in a box (name game) .. awaiting the balance of the water slide transfers .. I believe in sharing and helping out those in need if I have what they need because I know I'll feel good about helping .. but flat out stiffing someone like JOE D. ,, well let's just say that's flat out stealing and that's not cool ......

Well with the new rules that have been mentioned by Paul, there should be an improvement on the boards.
this hobby is supposed to be fun, if I have some parts that I am not going to use, I don't mind trading them or sending them to someone who needs them.
I just don't care for the people who try to take advantage of the whole thing and ruin it for other people,
sure there is a lot of us who have rare and hard to find kits that we need a part or two for, but there is a few who took advantage of the situation and made a mess of it.
a lot of the complaints are the same,
I have sold, traded, and purchased on these boards, and so far no problems, knock on wood.
I admit, I am slow at times, but it is due to my hectic schedule, I keep my promises and my trade agreeements with people,
in light of recent happenings, Paul is right about the new message he posted, and for all us to trade and such safely, we all have to do our part.
take care George

I would like to know, Mr. Canney, if only automotive kits/parts are to be sold/swapped/traded here, or can we ask about other model parts/kits? I understand RallyMaster's wanting to keep the CC automotive realated, and I'm all for it, I'm just curious if we members can ask for other items outside the automotive parts/kits? I await your reply. Thank you. ;D

Hi. I`m kind of new to this site. How do I go about requesting parts? I`ve been into the hobby for some time and probably have parts to trade.

just list what you want. if someone has the parts that you are looking for, more than likely they will reply. you can probably come up with a trade of some sort. it just depends on if anyone has the parts you need, and if they are willing to let them go.

hi ..i am a newbie to the site and i fully understand where you guys are coming from..i've been customizing small-scale diecast for the past few years and posted on several forums am have been a moderator on a couple of them and it is a problem no matter what the hobby...i feel like this..if i have a part someone needs i'll gladly offer it up and expect nothing in return..if they use it to complete a kit and sell it on Ebay i would be upset only if i found out that some other guy really needed the part to complete a project...but i guess that's life..i figure if i need help i'll ask for it..if i get help then i deserve it.i believe you get what you give..so if i do right by others it will in turn come back to me...i know there are those out there that just lie in wait to prey on the goodness of others, because it's happened to me over and over...but..i still am willing to help out folks because there are a lot of good folks out there..i refuse to let a few bad ones ruin it for the good ones.....i hope to make alot of friends here and it won't take long to separate the good from the bad...it never does....Mike

being new to the corner, I guess I did exactly that, I started asking for kits right away. the reason I did that, was Tom Daniel's told me this was the best place to start looking for his models. If I have stepped on any toes, I do apoligize. the people that I have been in contact with who have helped me find some of the kits I am looking I really want to thank you.

Ty po brought up a valid point here and it bears repeating ! i have been a member of a certain bigg magazine board for quite a while . In that time i have even gone to the trouble to actuall build pieces of dioramas and never ever get paid for the work I have done . I have also made plans avalibe to a couple of model builders in intstructing them in building a " Working " roll back wrecker too. I have yet to receive payment from anyone who has sent for them also . THATS o k , SOONER RATHER THAN LATER , kARMA CATCHES UP ! Those who screwed me know whom they be . I used to be a repopper and , " Wnen de night falls , de repo man callz ! I still know peopke all over the United states as well as in Canada too. In my trade deals , the few that Ive benn involved in , go check my references , I always make sure there is 100 % Satisfaction ! Ed Shaver

I am here to try to help others as well as get some help on projects. I agree with Don, I may not be the best builder on the planet, and I too have some health issues, (don't we all as we get older?), but if I have a part someone is looking for, all they have to do is ask. Then all I will need is an address to send it to. That's what is so great about places like CC, even if you don't have any money (which I don't) you can get help from some great people and I am in agreement with places to hang out, there are only 3 forums I hang out at regulaarly, here, Fast Eddies and Plastic Addicts Annonymous. So, I too will give the shirt off my back to help others, if I have it it's yours. nathan
