the color is not right in the photos, so I will take some outdoor pics when its done. I am gonna polish it out a bit and yes the rear wheels will be washed and the best I can do on the rims....unless someone has nice chrome ones? starting to look like a Beetle! (hard to believe that used to be brown/tan and yellow plastic)

Bob, I swore I had a nice set of rims like that! So I rushed into the bedroom to rifle through my rim tire box. No go. So I checked my parts box to get mailed out to my friends. Still nothing! So I am sorry. Sure wish I could help out! Looks like a nice start esp. knowing what kit ya got then with those colors. I look forward to seeing it done. Jody

I polished it up as much as I care to. It's too hard to get into tiny spaces without rubbing through with my big ole fingers. I just wanted to show another update because I love this thing so much! Decals on ! One of the fun things is piecing this truck together from several kits and the junk box. Woodpecker came from Monogram '32 Ford and the Moon decals came from Revell '31 Model A.

Look what I found in one of the junk boxes I bought from Steve Kohler! I didn't know it, but there are extra parts from the Boss A' Bone kit which is actually a later issue of the Blue Beetle and just about as hard to find. This is just glue bomb junk, the rest of the truck is gone. It just HAPPENS to have the fricken' firewall and the correct seats!

Do you think the wheels from the Lil coffin will work?

Nice start! I always liked the Blue Beetle.
I agree with ironheadchopper, try the Lil Coffin wheels.

The LiL Coffin wheels should be the same. I believe both kits use a backing plate in a similar manner. The wheels themselves are the same but I'm just not sure of the mounting point. It's worth a look though for sure. The front wheels could be found in the Orange Hauler I believe but it looks like you've matched them up pretty good already.

thanks guys! I am having a blast with this one! yes the Coffin wheels are exactly the same for the rears. I don't know if I wanna kill my Coffin for wheels though....I have never built one and just got one to build If I have to, I will paint the rims silver/chrome with a brush, which I hate to do....but don't wanna ruin my chance to build the Coffin.

Since the 1:1 coffin had brushed outers with gray "as cast" centers, I think I'd use the chrome wheels on the Blue Beetle and paint the wheels for the Coffin - but I've got like three butchered Coffins right now - one of my favorite donor chassis.

Looks much nicer! Those do not look that deep? I had a sholow pair. I have a deep pair in resin. I didnt figure either would fit your needs. Jody

The original had a Cadillac engine...the new one might have one, but it's got some fugly valve covers and they don't say "Cadillac" on them like they should. I snagged a set that are not exactly like the originals, but at least they say CADILLAC on them. They came out of the AMT '59 El Camino kit. The sucky part is the valve covers are molded with the heads. I had to cut them off and put the new ones on.

did the best I could with what I have on the engine. intake is not exact, but it's close to the right one. kinda worried about the firewall fitting behind that magnito...might do some minor adjusting to get it together. it's getting closer..the truck is 3/4 of the way....the scuba and surf stuff will be the last 1/4.
