I figured out a simple way to mount the front end! Here is the stock 34 Ford Radiator in place. I cut down the size and turned the radiator on it's side. Then I added a top and side mounts. This setup will allow me to attach the front end right on to the mounts! I think I will add another mount at the base to increase the glueing area...

I added the additional base mount and trimmed the top edge to fit lower. Here is a test fit. Looks good so far...

I found the perfect console for this project! This is a custom console from an AMT 25th scale '58 Chevy. It was a great fit. I only had to add sheet plastic and a little putty to mold it in!

I took a long look at the 34 Ford Camino's styling and decided to change both the front and rear ends. Here is the new rear end! I cut off all the 57 Chevy stuff and filled the big fins with sheet plastic. I am looking for new taillights now...

I cut the nose off a 16th scale Cobra to make the new front end. I narrowed it by 1/4" and filled in the sides with scrap plastic. Then I made a backing plate to fit the radiator. I like the new front end better....what do you think?

I would suggest sticking w the original 57 chevy front... if you are not sure, why not try finalizing up both and then take pics for us all to give feedbacks which is best for that before you put glue to the final build. Just a thought.

I like the "new' nose Ira. Kinda reminds me of a track style nose. I kinda had reservations about the old one. Kool idea for the console too!! ;D

First of all I love this concept!
I have always respected your fine work Ira and have taken a few of your ideas as well. I love your outside the box thinking.
As far as the new changes go:
I like the new rear but it may need some chrome.
I wasn't a fan of the '57 front that you had, it looked as if the headlights weren't proportional, but this new one seems to be missing something. With the horizontal oval and the frame/suspension showing it looks too track-like. Is there any way to hide some of the frame? Maybe mold some headlights onto the oval too.
Just my 2 cents.
Dave

Dave Thanks for your comments!!! Yea, it does look like a race track nose... I wanted to lighten up the front end as much as possible, so I made up a Race Inspired front end. I'm planning to add a couple small High Power Headlights to the nose & give it a Custom Touch. I found 3 plastic ball point pens and took them apart. These pen parts are just what I needed for my sunken headlight housings! Looks like I am going to be cutting up the new front end now...

Still working on the front end.... I cut the lower scoop from the AMT Silhouette and fit in into the front end as shown. I didn't like the round top & sides of the nose. So I cut a section from the top of the nose & replaced it with a flat piece of plastic. I ground down the top back area & the sides flat too. I cut the headlights out from the front end of the Silhouette also. Then I cut out areas for them & fit them in. Next, I cut the ends off two plastic ball point pens and fit them on the back of the headlight housings. Here is the new nose in the Frankinstien Mode...Putty & Primer next!

I needed to make a couple body changes after I made the new exhaust pipes... First, I flattened out the firewall, that angle was fighting the headers & engine. Next I trimmed the bottom edge of the body flat to follow the lines of the Pipes. Then I rounded off the corner where the firewall and bottom edge met.

I am working on new tail light housings for the 34 Camino. I started with 3 graduating sizes of plastic tubing and a plastic strip. I cut 2 lengths of each size of tubing and 4 strips of plastic. Next I put the largest tube on one end, the next smaller tube went next and the smallest tube at the other end. I glued a plastic strip between each tube. Then I glued them together as shown. Next I set the housings next to the body to see how much plastic should be removed to match the angle of the back of the body. Then I ground off the tubes on that angle. Now I am doing the final positioning for the housings in the rear of the body. Next I will set up the backing for the housings and size the tail lights to fit.

I didn't know how hard this would be, but, what if you raked the body a little more so it lines up with the new grill better?
