So, what's anyone working on this weekend? I went to the store and got some glass black paint for my Roller Coaster rod to use as a base for the Alclad - it's raining here today but I managed to shoot a quick coat when it stopped for a while on the chassis and engine What's anyone else working on? Anything cool?

Here's what I worked on over the weekend. A local hobby store, the superlative Galaxy Hobby, sponsors a science-fiction/fantasy/horror contest every year in September. This year's special class is Space Yacht--a small spacecraft suitable for four or five people for a couple weeks. After a couple false starts, I've decided to make a Space Car, towing a Space Trailer. Here's a picture of an early mockup: ...and here's the Space Car as it currently stands:

Ohhhh, what an amazing build! The space car is SUPER cool! I love it! How did you make the teardrop shaped part on the wing on the roof?

I used epoxy putty (Aves Apoxie Sculpt), smoothed with a wet finger, then sanded a bit for final smoothness. The Space Car has also been narrowed about 1/4 inch at the back to make it more teardrop-shaped, and it'll have a big round jet inlet at the front (although an inlet'd be worthless in space ).

Too cool man! I love it! Great job!
You should totally make a build thread for this!

I spent the weekend stomping the Tri-Five Nationals with a camera so no model building for me... But I did buy a few things the other week. I'm looking forward to my fall building season.

I went to that local model show a while back and bought another Blazing Bison pulling tractor for the matching trio of engines, another dang Ivo Showboat that I keep swearing will be the last one because the headers are built one pipe at a time, lol, and a TeeVee Dunebuggy. I like the paddle tires. Everything is just parts to me. Something will have four engines in the future.... and another will have three. I don't know what yet, but something is getting over-powered.

I did a tonne of stuff this weekend - nothing super productive but it was all fun! First up, I got some molding rubber - a two different liquids that you mix together to make rubber parts. I used the molds I made for resin tyres a few weeks ago, I'm kinda messing with it now just to learn to use it This is a test piece I made with a little of the mix - made a decent scale rubber tyre! I found a 29 Ford kit at the flea market yesterday, so I cast some more tyres and daydreamed a litle about what a Tom Daniel designed 29 would look like...maybe something like this? And then before you know it I'm desiging a frame for it so I could get the cab low to the ground but stuff run the big tyres... And then I transferred it into 3D modelling software so I could get some 3d printed: https://www.instagram.com/p/BYBlD_2ls2E I've been enjoying learning some of this new stuff lately - I had fun messing with this wheel design yesterday...with no idea what it'll be useful for Cant wait to get my framerails in the mail next week! 3d printing has got so cheap - those two custom made rails cost 86 cents each - and under $8 including setting the machine up and mailing them. Too cool!

That's killer man Thanks , Sorry for the late reply. I had started this build a few years ago, but put it back in the box, because I didn't like the kit hinges for the doors. I wanted to come up with something better (still working on that. LOL). The plan was to build the Mardikian Countach SS. So a couple of weeks ago I decided to work on it again, this is how it sits today. The Mardikian Countach SS

Ohhh, that looks GREAT! Nice work! How DO the doors hinge on these? Do they pivot on the top front corner of the door? I've noticed that on some builds on this model, that the doors will flare outwards when opened, like in this picture. I don't like that. I would also like to move the pivot point, to under the leading edge of the door (like the real one). The model has it under the fender.

I lost one of the pieces for my Depth Charger that I was building - I'd chromed it, left it on the rack to dry on top of a cabinet and came back and it just wasn't there. I was like "that's weird...'. Looked under the cabinet, all over the floor in case I'd kicked it somewhere, down the back of the cabinet, under the sofa...GONE! Found it yesterday - it had fallen off the rack and somehow taped itself to the side of the cabinet. I didn't look there! Couldn't have MADE it do that if I'd tried! Haha. Anyway, so, I can finish my Depth Charger now - just laying some acrylic Tamiya black on the frame here Anyone else at the bench this weekend?
