Fantastic paint work Bobby. How long did you work on it?

Got the yellow paint finished up on my Beer Wagon today, and thinned out some Createx acrylic clear to try - came out pretty shiny!
Managed to paint the whole thing for one $3 pot of Tamiya Lemon Yellow! Perfect!

That looks great, Jim! Applying yellow paint is not always easy, especially if you have different primer Colors, have also made my experiences, yellow just covers bad after only one layer... Fantastic paint work Bobby. How long did you work on it? Thank you very much, Bert! Well, with me it's like that: if I like something, or I have a brainstorm, I have to implement it immediately… … but in many cases it happens that I do not know how to continue... … or do not feel like it anymore… ... or that I have forgotten it... ... or that I'm just building something else… I think I bought and built it immediately, then even primed it, but then put it back and did nothing on it for decades, then one day, I rediscovered it and started to paint it. The longest lasting thing is the drying time of the paint layers. Especially the slobber and the eyes, these were deepened in the middle of the pupil, and to fill this with clear varnish, needed about ten thin layers, otherwise the paint run away...

Thanks buddy! Yeah, the primer makes a LOT of difference...luckily my friend works in a bodyshop and gave me a little yellow primer that he had - worked great!

Decided to pull Li'l Yeller out of my stash. Ohhhhh, cool! What are you thinking of doing with that? Box stock? Your post made me think “ohhh, I should get one of those” so I went and looked on eBay and added a few to my watchlist and thought “yeah, I really like those, I wonder why I never got one before?” Then I looked up and saw two on my kit shelf that have been there since they got reissued 🙄😂

Ohhhhh, cool! What are you thinking of doing with that? Box stock? As hard as I try, I hardly build anything 100% box stock. This won't be any different. I'll change the wheels and tires and I have an idea for the body. Then I looked up and saw two on my kit shelf that have been there since they got reissued 🙄😂 LOL I also forgot that I had two in my stash.

I haven't been snapping photos, but still working on the Gridiron Grabber, the Street Fighter, and I have added another Beer Wagon, your fault Jim for planting the seed. It's going to be a nose high gasser.

Not sure yet. I'm starting on the chassis and getting the nose high stance set first.

Sounds fun! I guess the reverse of my first question makes more sense in this case then...which of the kit parts were you planning on using?

The only real change will be the engine and front end. We'll see, most of it is still in my head.

Just messing with a little thing here - I'm right in the middle of packing to move, but I've got SOME stuff here to play with. I saw a piece of plastic plumbing pipe discarded in my building and thought "Ohhh, that's a nice diameter!". I sliced it into some equal width pieces and spent an hour or so sanding the edges down to give it a bevelled edge - kinda reminds me of the cool tires that hobbybobby makes - although not as cool as his obviously.
Now I gotta find or make a 31" wheel to put in them tho

PVC works great if you can find the proper size . Try finding another piece that will fit inside what you have there then reshape the sidewall . Here's some tires a did years ago , I don't remember what sizes the PVC is but a little sanding of the wheels o.d. and everything fit perfectly ! Edit - I lined the i.d. of the larger tube with a piece of sheet styrene so the smaller tube would fit snug . The drum sander was used as a mandrel , chucked in an electric drill to sand the tubing to shape .

Ohhh, those look GREAT Bob! Very cool! I wondered if I could get some similar sizes of pipe that would fit to make different sizes - sounds like I can! Thanks for the pics and tips buddy! Your ones look GREAT!

Your ones look GREAT! Be sure to check out all of the PVC fittings along with the pipe , the fittings are much thicker wall . I have some schedule 40 3/4" pipe with a straight coupler on it that gives you a 1 1/4" o.d. x 3/4" i.d. approx . Schedule 40 1/2" pipe with a coupler gives you 1 1/8" x 1/2" approx . There's also thin wall PVC pipe for larger i.d.

Best (and only?) good thing about moving is finding stuff you forgot - an old original issue AMT Cinder Bug!
Couldn't resist doing a little bench-building and mock up on this thing

On my workbench this week...was building a workbench! I've only ever built on a tray on my lap, so having some bench space (even if it's pretty small) is nice!
It soon filled up once I had the laptop on there and the speakers and crap - I need to get some draws or something for parts...but it's still the most bench space I've ever had!
Moving SUCKS...but it's cool to have a real building space, and I'm in a really nice neighborhood now! I can get on with some building, finally!

I had one as a kid, but made a complete ass of it and it must have been blown up like so many of my failures......

So, who's showroddin' this weekend?
I've been working on my RR engine - adding some detail and little bits and pieces to it:
And starting to piece together the Rommel / driver skeletons...I was trying to use as much of the original skeletons as possible, but for the driver it was easier just to put his head on the reissue skeleton:
Anyone else building this weekend?
