Well, please excuse me Tom and also the rest of you guys... Maybe my opinion on this kit seems to be blasphemy… ... of course, there are beautiful built versions, no question, but I never understood the hype... Anyway, as a starting point for my build I need this kit: … and certainly these parts, the rest of the kit in eventual use: I started with this: Aluminum pipes... … and pieces of a Perbunan hose... ...made on my lathe to this: So far, things are going in this direction: Hope, you like it.

Thank you very much! I'm not sure about the final look yet, but those are the rims I've chosen, they're from LEGO: ... which I then edited… ... and at the back, the aluminium tubes have a larger opening… ... in which I now easily press that edited rim… ... and that's how it looks from the front, as I said, not yet in final execution...

Those wheels are cool! I haven’t seen those before!
They remind me of the kit front wheels, just with a couple of extra holes 🕳
Great start!!

Ohhhh, this is interesting. Are you making a smooth floor for it so you can hide the axles and drivetrain, or have you got something else in mind?

Ohhhh, this is interesting. Are you making a smooth floor for it so you can hide the axles and drivetrain, or have you got something else in mind? Thanks, Jim. First and foremost I have no suitable frame, so everything starts on these plates… … and yes, you're right, so I can hide the axles, drivetrain and suspensions, is anyway secondary to this build...

Thank you very much! The base plate was a little too inaccurate, above here in the picture, so I created a new one, down: To be able to mount this plate straight, first i had to level out the different heights and angles: Here now positioned and fixed:

Thank you very much! I do not need the recesses for the exhaust pipes, so I closed them: The engine out of the box: In order to mount the motor, I have to carve a recess in the base plate: A fit test: This will roughly be the position of the engine:

What did you use to fill the exhaust holes, Bobby? Looks like it did a nice clean job!

Love that technique! Very clever! I've never filled holes that way, seems like it works really well!

Love that technique! Very clever! I've never filled holes that way, seems like it works really well! Thanks, Jim! As I said, this is my version, a possibility of many, perhaps it is difficult to apply it in some places and for much larger or too small holes, it requires caution and a lot of practice for good results!

And it continues: Because there are so many wheels, that has to be a bit more precise: First, I measure the whole thing out and then mark the positions of the axes with a thin waterproof pen.. … then I drill the holes as accurately as possible... I will use for this construction, finished axes of diecast models, here a selection in different lengths... … four matching axes are selected and positioned for fitting... Hope, you like it so far…

Your thread title says "Bus"; are you going to add a roof? Well, Steve, that's right with the roof, but what exactly I intend to do, remains a secret for now...

The next step seems very confused for some of you, but it is necessary for my conversion... The black lines are cut lines: And it's off:

I predict a body-graft in this build’s future.
But WHICH body? 🤔. Only thing I could think of was the S’cool bus maybe?
Can’t wait to see what it is!

The indentation in the front fender for the spare wheel is no longer needed... ... but the resulting recess is already needed… From a 5 mm thick PS plate I carved this here: ... and here is his destination:
