A little more work. The rear shocks are constructed but not yet painted, and the brake line for the rear calipers is done. The intake, headers, and turbo bodies are mounted.

A little more progress. The plug wires are done other than the coils. I'm not real happy with the right side engine, but there was no room to run the wires behind or in front of the engine, so the wires had to go over the top. Believe it or not, the exhaust dumps were the hardest parts to make so far. It took 3 pieces to make each side along with a little bondo and a lot of shaping. I'm very happy with how they came out so the work was worth it.

This thing is kicking my butt to the point that I almost wish I never started it. But yet like the fool I am I keep going. The front suspension is finally taking shape, although it fought me the entire way. in the initial mockup stage. I needed to get the lower arms permanently mounted to proceed. That meant painting the parts and hoping for the best. I really hate painting anything before everything is done, I hope it doesn't screw up. Once the epoxy for the lower arms is completely dry I'll make the front bags and figure out the steering components.

First, a big compliment, your ideas and solutions are just fantastic, you have again raised the bar very high. But... I'm also not realy happy with the right side engine, Dave, the wires as they are now, that looks, to put it mildly, not very nice... That is my opinion, I would change it. You have a lot of work put into it, but just such details, believe me, it upsets the whole...

Thanks for the honest opinion Bobby, like I said, I wasn't real happy with it either.
The problem now is, I'm starting to get tired of dealing with this build. It's fighting me and I'm losing patience with it. For me to redo the wiring on this engine means pulling the distributors out of both engines and starting over as I don't have any more grey wire. I hate making distributors to start out with. I also don't think I'll get the one out of the right side engine without destroying the intake and exhaust manifolds.
I think this is one of those times to accept what it is and move on.

Are you sure you couldn't route the wires around the front of the head? Or maybe make some kind of wire tree or several that hold 2-3 wires.
Other than that this is looking really cool.
Dave

I know the feeling and am with You on the "aspects" of detailing a build. It is very tedious as the build progresses but most gratifying in the long run. ;D This is really looking good Dave! Thank You for sharing with Us Keep going Man! Later Russ

I woke up the other morning and noticed the distributor on the right engine fell out. How the heck did that happen? While looking through the pics of this build, I stopped at this and was inspired to do something I've wanted to build for a long time. A Hot Rod Bread/Milk truck from the 50's. To do it proportionately to my eye, the roof and body both needed to be stretched. By just adding to the bottom I think I was able to give the illusion of a chopped delivery truck. This is where I'm at right now. I'm going to do the rear as a one piece door, I've cut the two small windows into one large back window.

That's an inner body structure with a section of headliner, shown upside down. No fooling you is there? It was a bit of a failure. I had the entire piece mocked up and when I fit it with the cage, they both wanted the same bit of real estate. I salvaged the back half, hopefully the cage will block enough of your view to hide the fact that it's not complete.

More progress on the body. I squared up the door gaps using .010 x.060 to wrap the edges of the doors and sanded to fit. Opened up. A shot through the back door .

On my way home from checking on a job I stopped at the LHS to look for some small half round rod to fix some missing detail on the Jeep. They didn't have any small enough, but I did come across this JF trailer. I think it's just about a perfect match for this build.

What a mess the trailer is inside, this is obviously a curbside. Well you know me, it's not gonna be a curbside for long. It looks like they started with a good mold and then for some reason filled the top and most of the sides with extra resin. It's over a 1/2" thick in some spots. I started the grinding and sanding process, what a pain. I've got one side down to a reasonable thickness and somewhat straight. The roof had me scared as it's hard to determine how much material needs to be removed. I decided to open the rear doors to get access and an idea of when to stop grinding. For some reason this resin STINKS like mineral spirits when you sand or grind it. Before the grinding and sanding. I don't know if the jukebox was part of the trailer, but it was in the box. After grinding down one side and along the edges of the doors in order to remove them.

The free Jukebox may be to compensate for the trailer??. all that extra work. ;D
Seriously be aware it could contain Formaldehyde, I had a warning on my Jukebox, to wear a filter mask at least, try not to breath the powder.. I cut down my Jukebox to fit in with a project (many years ago).
I noticed the smell of spirits at the time.

Thanks guys! I pretty much have a frame for the trailer. It's made from .100 x.080 square rod. Next up an axle and suspension. I was able to cut the skirts off without damaging them. I plan to reproduce the shape only larger and open to show the wheel and tire.
