I started detailing the trike. I've got the brake rod run from the footpeg to the brake drum. The engines have been wired and plumbed, and I added a Tee handle for the pull rope. I have to do a little grinding to get the exhaust to clear the throttle cable bracket, I hope it doesn't ruin it. The red lines are fuel, the purple is the throttle cable.

The dual engine Jeep caught my eye, as well as the trailer, but the trike....
Great stuff!!!

The trike is just about done. I added plugs, wires, fuel lines, throttle cables, a mechanical rear brake with linkage. I think all that's left is a bit of paintwork, mount the back wheels and tires, the front forks and the gas cap. The hole in the backbone is for the gas cap. It's a bullet shape that comes off the side so you don't get stabbed in the chest when riding this thing. The backbone is the gas tank.

Other than a little touch up, the trike is done. I've got the inside framework for the trailer almost mocked up. I need to do a little more grinding and sanding on the inside to get the final fab work on the framing. I also dropped the trailer and while trying to catch it, broke the filler panel loose on one of the fenders. I then added some .080 rod as braces.

I'm just about done smoothing out the inside of the trailer. The framework has been sanded once and is ready for the first round of filler. It was very hard to get a decent pic, here's what it looks like as of right now. Quite a change, remember this?

The hinges for the trailer are done, now to clean it up a bit. I'll wait till after it's painted to cut the pin down to fit the hinges. Next up, the ramps for the trike and then it's paint time to paint the trailer.

My goal for today was to get color on the trailer. It wound up being one one of those days! After a series of mishaps. I think I've got the final prime coat on. I'll let it dry overnight, tomorrow I'll hit it with some 2000 and put my base down.

The trailer is painted. While this is a really nice color under the right lighting, it shows every little flaw. I got most of them out. My original plan was to do the art deco piece along the front top of the trailer in Alclad. I really like how it looks now just with the grey. I guess Ill decide after I sand and polish.

The repair on the door went awry, I wound up stripping it to the primer/resin with a plastic razor blade. Then restarted with LOTS and LOTS of sanding. I just put the clear on and it looks good.

I started on the ramps for the trike. Just a little sanding and paint and they will be done. I used ribbed sheet for the rear tires as they need some traction. The ramp for the front tire is .030 and the edges of all three are finished with .040 x .060 square stock.

I'm bringing the Jeep out of storage. I think if I stay on it I can have it ready for NNL East. I just inventoried the parts and I have one that looks fairly important, unfortunately I have no clue what the heck it is.

The seats need a little more sanding and the floor mats need to be flocked. I have to see if I have any seatbelt hardware left, so I can button up the interior.

Great looking stuff here Dave!
I was seriously considering making the trek to NNL east this year, but looks like family commitments (our little girl turns 2 the same day) will keep me from attending this year. Maybe next year!

The more I looked at the turbos the more I started to hate how they look. I decided to do something about them. To be honest, I'm not really sure I like the front of this Jeep at all anymore, but I'm not about to start over. I can't quite pinpoint what I don't like, but I'm beginning to think the narrow front tires are all wrong. I played around with some ideas, most of them either didn't flow or were just too bulky. I think this is the one I'm going with. This too was pretty bulky looking, then I decided a turbo and exhaust cover needed some venting which took some of the mass out of it. I might put some screen behind the openings.

I like this, with a little notching here and there I could pull these in to fit the diameter of the tires. Unfortunately I want to use these fenders on another build. If anyone has some cycle fenders they could spare, I've got a thread on the wanted section.

Good reply I didn't at first find your turbo system bulky, as you say...exaggerated a touch maybe. All I thought was, 'woah, sweet V-12 turbo'. And the covers look really unique. Like. The fenders are a real nice touch, they seem to tie the front end together well. I have these in duplicate I could spare. They are Revell ones mind you: PM me if you want them Blake

Hey Blake, I think I have a line on the fenders I want, but if it falls through, I'll let you know. Thanks for the offer.

More progress. The back looked too plain, so while looking for ideas I saw the front airdam from a Sunbeam Tiger sitting on the bench and cut it up to fit the back of the Jeep. Then it was time to figure out some taillights. I cut up a Deora Gluebomb taillight and stuck it in place to see if I like it. if I decide to use it, I'll sink it into the tailgate.

I cut out the tailgate to fit the taillight. One side was a bit of a pain as I had to cut through the brass tab from the hinge. I stuck the two halves of the taillight to to some aluminum tape to hod it together and brighten it up a bit. I will then glue it to the backer piece.

Ca glue was invented by Satan! I absolutely positively HATE this necessary evil in a bottle. Can somebody explain to me how even when you use the tiniest amount of this stuff and need a part to set right away, it won't? How does this adhesive from Hades creep into the most delicate parts that you don't want glued together, manages to do so and then dries immediately so you can't get them apart and wind up ruining them? I came this close (Imagine me holding to fingers together) to smashing everything on this build to tiny pieces. After spending hours getting the front spindles done I just ruined one and had to drill out the front suspension arm to get it out along with snapping it. What really frost my cajones, is they were perfectly matched, I doubt that will happen the second time around. Modeling is sure relaxing,,,,,,,,,,,,,NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I get to build another one of these.

As I predicted the new one is off a little, but with a little bending of the support rods for the fenders it seems to line up pretty good. I've got the tie rod finished and it's time to move onto another part of this build.

I figured out what my mystery part is. It's an electric waterpump. I also had the coolant plumbing figured out and a bunch of fittings made to finish it. Of course I can't remember what went where, so I made all new ones. I think this is one of those times that the second version worked out better than the first. I do remember not being real happy with how things were going to line up, I think everything will fit pretty good this time. The plumbing fittings. How it will be plumbed.
