Gave to old Alps printer a kick to see if I could get some white printing done... Seems to have worked. Waiting on the decal clear to dry, see if I can get some scribbles on these two builds. When's that deadline again?

I've got one, pretty much done, maybe some decals, maybe not. The other still has me scratching my poor, bald coconut over just how to paint it...

It's been so long, I honestly don't remember all the different primers I tried. I'd made a roadster from the Monogram '37 Ford (Before they made it a roadster) and I'd used a part of the ZZ Top Eliminator roof as the rear deck. The rest of the rear section came from a black older car, I don't recall what now, but it was missing the trunk lid, that's why I cut up the ZZ roof and stuffed it back there. I was painting it a cream color, and every time I put the finish coat on and let it dry, there was a large "redded" area on the deck. I stripped and reprimed with several different types of paint. It came back through them all, and is still there to this day. I've heard Future will stop it (Water based accrillic), but I can't say. I can't say one way or another if epoxy primer will stop it ether. Good luck, we're all counting on you!

I think this will be my last update as I'm getting ready to put color on this thing and after that there won't be much to show other than a finished model. I've got the white base on. I would personally like to wring the neck of whoever thought it would be a good idea to mold a model in red or yellow. If it's Monogram red or yellow, there's no stopping or getting rid of it ether, it WILL bleed through. Only way I know to stop it is painting it black and leaving it black.

Finished working out the tracks by adding three smaller wheels to each side. Also have the controls worked out... Those are cut down shifter from the Pie Wagon. Rear end all worked out as well. Front view... Trying to decide if I should 'wing it' or not... And just WHAT is going on here?

Another trend that just screams, "Pointless", that was likely started by a tire company, in order to sell more tires. The wear rate on these must be minutes, not miles.

It has no 'plug wires' per say, it uses individual coils. The coils are the little black parts with small red things on them, which is where the computer leads go. That's one coil per cylinder, computer fired.

Refined the EPW some more, added some headlights... I took out the Pie Wagon door and made a set of side by sides. The rear end is from a Cherry Bomb, slightly tweeked... Headers are made from some 1/20 scale velocity stacks, intended to resemble the headers on the Tijuana Taxi... I also made and interior bulkhead behind the seats... And here's the 'track-pack' all nice and inclosed... Now, what color to paint this thing?...

I've checked C/R and yes, he has the M&H tires available, for a pretty good price. He also mentions wider ones 'coming soon', and the page is two years old... I've also been checking Ebay regularly, but haven't seen what I'm looking for outside of a sealed, nearly $300 'Rod Shop Vette', which I'm pretty sure has the tires I'm looking for. I ain't rich, so I ain't dropping three bills to parts raid a rare kit. My Revell front runners are still in nice shape, so I don't HAVE to get a set of skinnies, other than the hope of some 'matching' material.

Okay, I've been in a slump for a while (too many projects in the purple pond), but I decided to get off my duff, stop just lurking, and actually put something together. I'm starting with this WIP: The Sand Shark has been a disappointment of most of us, design-wise, but after staring at it awhile, I decided to give it a chance. It wasn't the front end that bugged me (tho not the cooler Dog Catcher style), it was the unusual roof line. I glued the body together, smoothed out the seams, and flattened out the roof line, to give it a flat-top C-cab look. With a primer coat and the basics built, it stands as this: I thought it would be a fitting entry into this contest. Now maybe I can get back in the swing of this forum. Wow! It's like a whole new animal!

Looking for some nice 1/16 scale wheels and tires to replace the heavy die-cast toy ones you see here...

The rear wheels and tires are an epic fail. But, on the whole, an improvement over Eye Gone Wild. Use a set of 'Street Cleaner' rear wheels on it, and you'd have something.

I'm looking for something in the way of fat slicks and short skinny tires in 1/16th scale, you know, good old fashioned "Bigs'n'littles" but I don't want the ultra-soft ones from the Revell dragsters. I've got a set of them and they've taken on a funky texture with time. I know there must be something else out there, maybe from MPC? So let me know what you got, and what you want.

Only one engine? WHO IS THIS!?!?! I know, I must be slipping... LOL.. Especially given how much available space there is back there. You sure you don't have an extra engine sitting around you could stuff back there, just for old times sake?

Congratulations! It's funny that my fiancee and I just had a conversation about print magazines and the internet... a conversation I've had many times with people over the last decade of my career. While the world may become more digitized every day, no matter what happens, there will always be printed magazines for the simple reason that people, in any hobby, don't think they've "made it" until it's in print. Hot rodders, model car builders, ball players, and even businesses... you can be plastered all over the web on fifty websites, but the sheer satisfaction of holding a printed book and showing it to somebody simply can't be beat. It's a great feeling, and I am happy for you. No doubt, print has a lasting quality that other media fails to deliver. Congratulations again Chuck.
