Mine Would have to be a Deal's Wheels. Since I live smack dab in the middle of the desert with sand dunes just outside of the city, I would have to go Baja around here!

How about these? They are Dave Deal creations! The last one, the Buick, is the only one I have not been able to find.

Wow Dave, these are very nice card models. You have represented some hot rods in card that look as cool as the plastic models, for what they are. And I really like the miniaturization of the card models. Great art work and great builds. Hope to see more soon. Have you ever considered the Deal's Wheels for paper?

I must say Mike, this is coming along as interestingly as I thought it would. I appreciate the thought you put into "fixing" some of the obvious little things Revell short cut on the model. It looks like it will be a spectacular build if you keep pushing for the "deadline". Keep going!

Luca, your builds always amaze me, but to top it off your ability to figure paint may ever surpass your techno building skills! These are all great renditions of the box art. Like HTBomb said, I tend to avoid kits like these myself. Very nice work on all three models!

I don't know what your day job is, but I think you would fit in well at Revell's R&D office. Maybe you could get us some new "Automatic Plastimatic Wheels!" Great build Jim! ;D

I was looking on the www tonight and ran across this little tidbit about Dave: Dave Deal Wins PRDA Man-of-the-Hour Award From Vol. 2 No. 1 Issue of the PRDA News, © 1977 Dave Deal, famous wacky artist who's given us Deal's Wheels, Deal's Caricatures, the famous Revell model series, and many more important graphics, was chosen for this award for the following reason: (Telephone): Ring...ring...ring... (Oscar): Hello? (Dave): Oscar? This is Dave Deal. (Oscar): Oh, hi Dave. (Dave): Well, I finally did it. (Oscar): Did what, Dave? (Dave): I flew my plane into a garbage truck in Mexico. (Oscar): That's fantastic, Dave. How high was the truck flying? Silence for a time from Dave. Finally... (Dave): No Oscar, I was landing. I thought I was landing at this little airport in Mexico, when I was really landing on one of their streets. The garbage truck came out from a dump and wap! I hit the wing... more conversation... Oscar, I want to buy a membership for a friend of mine's wife. (Oscar): Okay Dave. Why? (Dave): Well she drove her car head on into a twin engine plane taking off from the Long Beach airport. She thought she was on the freeway. (Oscar): Honest? (Dave): Honest. Check with the FAA. (Oscar): Okay Dave. She's in. Later, after hanging up... (Oscar): Boy, what some people won't do to get in the PRDA.

Great first build/modification of a Deal's Wheels kit. WARNING: These kits have been known in the State of California to cause irresistible compulsions to collect and build more! ;D

Scott, I'm not a huge contributor on this site, but I check it often. There's a great bunch of clowns on this site and a few mutual friends, for sure. What everyone else said about your talent and builds is obviously true. The Baron is a challenging build and I would say you nailed the "look". The VAN looks like it will be a knock out and your 1/43 scratch build, well there are laws in this country....LOL Great builds. We're all ready to see the rest. Warm up the camera and post some more! Keith

For those of you who were around a few decades ago when I posted my in progress build of the Bug Bomb Convertible, you may remember this in progress shot. This was an Ebay glue bomb that needed to be rescued. I was unable to remove the one piece windshield because of the amount of glue used to put it together and I broke the top trying to get it out. That's when I decided to make it topless. It is finally finished! I am slow but deliberate to a point........... sometimes. I bashed a Revell VW convertible to get the fold down top and dash. I used Bare Metal Foil here and there to dress the dash. A little cutting and fitting made them work. I bashed a CB Freak for the wheels and tires. I removed the tach and filled the hole with sheet plastic and putty to get a symmetrical hood. I added Nerf bars from a Rubber Duck kit. The license plate was a tribute to Dave Deal that I ordered from an Ebay auction. The "tail pipe" is an injection stack from the junk box. My intentions way back then were to sculpt a Hawk Beach Bunny for the driver. I procrastinated so long that they came out with a smaller one on a blister pack. As soon as I saw it, I bought one and it was exactly the size needed. I chopped it, repainted it, and glued her in. Now it's a Deal's Wheels California Topless Beach Bunny VW cruiser. I hope Dave approves.

The pickup has taken a back burner again because of another Deal's Wheels kit that's a little farther along. (But, not for long)The other will be my Wacky Lapper when it is done. I'll post some pics soon. Then't there is the '57 Chevy and Zzzzzz-28 camaro getting modified. The Lord willing and the water do't rise, I can finish them off by the end of the contest??Thanks for the compliments!

A few months ago I started chopping up a '29 Ford Pickup inspired by one of Dave's drawings. The hints and postings from some previous scratch builds on the CC made it easy to understand what to do. Here are some in progress shots. You can see the picture for reference in this shot.I rearranged my Photobucket into folders and must have deleted them somehow. Sorry about that.
